Role Summary:
Axalta Coating Systems is seeking a Process Engineer to join its Process Technology team located at the Mount Clemens Manufacturing Plant. The successful candidate for this job will become a key member of the Global Process Technology team and provide support to Mount Clemens Finish Product Area.
The primary responsibility of this position is to develop or improve the finish product manufacturing process technologies and advance fundamental understanding of manufacturing processes in support of Axalta growth and lean initiatives. The focus will be on finish product, equipment, and processes. A primary function includes supporting capital projects to increase capability and capacity of the facility. The successful candidate will help support the design, installation, and start-up of equipment and processes at Mount Clemens.

Key Responsibilities:
- Optimize manufacturing processes for Axalta by generating improvement ideas, designing, and performing experiments to support implementation on a plant scale.
- Support area capacity calculation and equipment utilization metrics.
- Lead process development and commissioning for capital projects.
- Collaborate with R&D and Alignment Chemists to support scale up of finish product and intermediate products.
- Participate in a forum to support and/or troubleshoot plant process and quality issues.
- Provide coaching on technical issues to both peers and associate investigators.
- Provide support and technical guidance for sister sites.
- Organize and facilitate meetings to promote manufacturing improvements for safety, productivity, and quality.
- Support and/or lead critical PSM elements, which includes, but not limited to: Management of Change (MOC), PFMEA, Control Plans, PHA and others.
- Generate and share key manufacturing metrics. Use data to facilitate positive change.
- Interact with Axalta personnel in the business and operations functions on a routine basis.
- Build strong partnership with site leaders of all related functions.
Basic Qualifications :
- B.S in Engineering, with at least 3 years of experience in process engineering is preferred.
- Knowledge and experience working in manufacturing environment.
- Experience in coatings industry is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to work and contribute in a team environment.
- Effective written and oral communication.
- Candidate must possess strong problem-solving skills.
- Candidate must have a working proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
