Position Summary:
The Fort Madison Senior Engineer will be responsible for ensuring safe and efficient operation of a wide variety of manufacturing equipment to meet resin production demand at the Fort Madison Site. This position will lead large capital project, drive continuous improvement programs, and be a hands-on mentor to the production engineers.
The Senior Project Engineer will interface with technical, operations, maintenance, and leadership to promote a safe, productive, and continuously improving work environment while promoting a strong safety culture for the facility. The role will also take a lead on Capital project execution, support Process Hazard Assessments, conduct root cause failure assessments and collaborate with other Axalta Sites to ensure best-in-class processes.
Work Location: This role is fully remote and may be based anywhere in the U.S. Approx. travel required: 50%.

Position Summary:

Key Responsibilities:
- Implement and manage projects to meet established deadlines through multiple areas of manufacturing operations. Coordinate with purchasing, vendors, and contractors to ensure all necessary components are acquired and installed per project scope.
- Lead process incident investigations.
- Lead the site's continuous improvement program.
- Identify the root cause of problems and work collaboratively to develop and implement solutions on a continuous basis.
- Conduct formal technical mentorship for early career engineers.
- Support Process Hazard Analysis and other PSM reviews.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
MUST HAVE:
- Bachelor's degree in chemical or mechanical engineering.
- 5+ years of chemical process engineering or relevant industry experience.
- Strong safety background and experience in a chemical/PSM environment
- Ability to read and understand mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, piping and valve drawings or schematics.
- Knowledge of industrial pumps, fluid transfer, and ASME standards.
- Knowledge of root cause problem solving techniques.
- Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills with the ability to work independently - plan and prioritize work.
- Willingness to mentor others and develop technical skills.
- Green Belt Certification.
- Experience with AutoCAD is preferred.
