Kleinschmidt has a full-time opening for a Senior Engineer/Project Manager to perform engineering design and manage projects involving dams, hydroelectric generation, fish passage facilities, and water resources, build client relationships, and mentor junior staff in Charlotte, NC or Lexington, SC. Our flexibility and core value of relationships allow us to offer employees the opportunity to work in a hybrid environment including working from the office and remotely.
Salary Range: $100,000-$175,000
Who You Are
A Licensed Professional Engineer with a BS in Engineering and a minimum of 10 years' experiencein civil, structural, geotechnical, or mechanical engineering related to the design of hydroelectric, fish passage, dam safety, or water resource projects. A minimum of 3 years of experience with management of engineering projects and coordination with clients is a must.
Knowledgeable: Knowledge of standards and codes applicable to the candidate's engineering discipline. Experience with analysis and design within your discipline and coordinating with multiple disciplines including hydrology/hydraulic, mechanical, electrical, and geotechnical engineers to deliver projects. The candidate should have experience working in the field with clients, contractors, and vendors during planning and construction of projects. The candidate will also possess excellent problem-solving skills as well as oral and written communication skills to manage projects and clients. Familiarity with regulatory and permitting processes is a plus. Experience as a consultant is preferred.
Project Manager: Experience managing project teams that include junior and senior-level staff, drafters, and project coordinators. The candidate will have the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently. Experience with managing multi discipline projects and teams. Demonstrates maturity in decision-making and ability to make decisions with the client and business in mind. Knowledge of Vantagepoint is a plus.
Relationship-focused: Passion for mentoring junior-level staff. Demonstrates the ability to work effectively with a multidisciplinary team while applying engineering skills from analysis and design through to construction. Ability to establish long-lasting relationships with clients to assist them in solving complex engineering work.
Additional Requirements
- Must possess permanent authorization to work in the United States and able to acquire authorization to work in Canada
- Must be willing to travel and possess a valid driver's license
About the Position
This position provides an opportunity to be a part of a team working on the design and management of hydroelectric, water resource, and fisheries related projects, incorporating the skills of all our engineering disciplines as well as regulatory and science services. Client relationship management and business development are also integral with this position. As a Senior Project Manager, you are responsible for successful delivery of simultaneous large-scale multidisciplinary projects, creating and building the client experience, and setting/maintaining expectations for internal and external teams. Your focus will be on projects and clients within the region to provide superior project delivery. Depending on needs and capacity, you may support larger projects and clients throughout the company as needed.
