About the Role:
As a Chief Engineer, you will be part of a dynamic Engineering Project Management team which drives Stryker & LAV FMS projects throughout the Engineering organization. The primary responsibility for this role to ensure overall technical design integrity, compliance, and robustness of a balanced system design. Chief Engineers (CE) have the authority to execute the overall technical scope and provide direction to the supporting IPTs and functional organizations for their program. The CE will also be supported by the Systems Engineering Manager and Project Engineers.

Responsibilities to Anticipate/Expect:
- Provide leadership of technical decisions to be coordinated through the Systems Engineering Integration Team (SEIT)
- Responsibility for ensuring that all technical products are developed, delivered, and a good balanced design is achieved within cost and schedule constraints
- Responsibility for the product design and resolution of architecture/design conflicts
- Manages product development architecture/design (system, physical, data, communications, structure, survivability, thermal, etc.). Approval of system architectures and any changes, conditions, inputs and final resolution for requirements, trades, and alternatives
- Responsible for outcome of whole system trades, Key Performance Parameter (KPP) and Technical Performance Measurement (TPM) compliance, vehicle weight, power, and unit cost management
- Responsible for interface definition and arbitration, physical/functional management and technical management of the product baseline
- Provides technical approval to the product structure documentation, Reliability Plan, and changes in interfaces or Size, Weight, Power & Cooling (SWaP-C) among subsystems
- Responsibility for ensuring the overall product technical design integrity, design compliance with all requirements, and that the product will function as an integrated system within its intended environment Responsible for day-to-day product design and development engineering, system integration and product verification
- Responsibility for documenting technical decisions in the form of DDMs
- Responsibility for leading all system level DFMEAs including the initial development of Fishbone Diagrams
- Responsibility for technical completeness and review of all Factory, Material and Field Problem Reports prior to closure
- Technical oversight of failure analysis and corrective actions; including design implementation and validation (based on TIRs or FPRB actions)
- Manages Integration, Assembly, Test, & Checkout (IAT&C) of product development and oversees IAT&C team
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Systems, Electrical, Mechanical or Computer Engineering preferred. Other technical degrees will be considered with relevant experience. Advanced master’s degree in any engineering discipline preferred.
- Minimum of 10-12 years relevant experience in the engineering/defense industries
- Demonstrated previous chief engineering experience overseeing complex technical projects
- Proven experience in technical interface with customers; especially significant experience with US Government programs
- This position will require eligibility to obtain a US security clearance. (Non-US Citizens may not be eligible)
- Excellent communication skills: written, verbal, and presentation
- Organizational capabilities to direct and lead others in a team-based environment
- Analytical skills and ability to direct and consult on technical analyses
- Must be willing to travel (domestic and/or foreign) as needed
- Proficiency in Windows XP, Lotus Notes, and Microsoft Office with adequate computer skills to manage the development of presentations and other methods of media display
