About the Job
Senior Engineer, WB Engineering (Kulicke and Soffa Industries, Inc., Santa Ana, CA): Developing new automation processes for battery cell manufacturing and interconnects from concept to deployment; Developing processing knowledge based on customer requirements to demonstrate the feasibility of WB applications, often requiring rapid prototyping and/or product demonstration for clients; Performing optics and laser experiments to properly calibrate equipment; Assessing materials combinations and joining methods for best interconnect reliability within the WB process; Proposing and testing conceptual solutions for new problems pertaining to WB operations and battery cell and battery interconnect topics; Conducting research on battery market trends and market requirements; Providing pre- and post-sales technical support; Developing test plans and executing experiments to analyze and characterize wire bonding interconnect mechanisms; Contributing to WB product development projects, performing work in cooperation with marketing and other engineering functions (software, mechanical, systems); Providing technical expertise through product demonstrations and presentations in the pre-sale process, as well as installations and maintenance for existing customers; Assisting the sales staff in assessing potential application of company products and preparing detailed product specifications for the development and implementation of customer applications/solutions; Conducting new product capability assessment and validation; Enhancing equipment capability through process-driven knowledge development; Developing and creating reference documents for process-of-record standards; and Preparing technical reports as required and maintaining reports, files and records. Must have experience with the following in order to complete the above-mentioned tasks: Experience with mechanical and mathematical modeling tools (Solidworks, MS Excel, Minitab); Experience with test set-up, troubleshooting, design of experiments, and lab and test equipment such as laser displacement, thermal sensor, and accelerometers; Experience working both independently and as a part of a team; Experience with precision systems engineering design; and Experience working with vendors and sub-contractors. Requires a Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, or a closely-related field, and at least two (2) years of experience as an Automation Engineer or a related occupation.
