About this Role:Position: Senior Engineering Project Manager – Channelview, Texas
NorthStar Energy Services, Inc. offers engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) services to multiple clients in the energy, petrochemical, and process industries. We are a wholly owned subsidiary of Quanta Services, Inc. (NYSE: PWR), a Fortune 500 company based in Houston.
NorthStar has offices in Houston, Dallas and Baton Rouge. Our core employees have worked together for many years, executing and managing projects around the country. Our team of professionals, from junior engineers and designers to senior technical experts, has experience in petroleum and chemical process technologies, program management, industrial engineering, pipeline engineering, industrial engineering procurement and construction, commissioning, and start-up.
The Baton Rouge, LA location performs engineering for EPC projects awarded to our Houston construction group as well as engineering design projects for oil and gas clients. The Baton Rouge engineering group maintains space in the company headquarters for project management and engineering personnel. Responsibilities:
- Manage industrial and mid-stream engineering, and EPC projects from bidding through construction.
- Coordinate a multi-discipline group of engineers and designers to successfully execute a project scope and meet schedules.
- Interface with clients regularly to assess ongoing project expectations and schedule.
- Organize a project scope of work into an execution plan to help identify critical path activities.
- Create project milestone schedules with planning input from engineers and designers.
- Facilitate the transfer of information between engineering disciplines, vendors, construction managers and clients.
- Review discipline progress reports and assess availability of resources required to meet schedule.
- Ensure engineering disciplines follow quality procedures throughout all projects.
- Work closely with document control staff so client communications and transmittals are properly logged and communicated to all personnel.
- Identify project risks that will affect schedule, cost or quality.
- Regularly assess project scope and engineering activities to identify all deviations that require a change request.
Qualifications:
- Preferably a minimum of 15 years of experience in oil and gas midstream and industrial projects.
- 5 to 10 years of experience managing midstream/industrial capital expansion projects.
- Technical or project management degree preferred.
- Ability to coordinate the production of project cost estimates and proposals with a multi-discipline engineering staff.
- Understand project cost reports and production status reports to assess the health of a project on a regular basis.
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate collaboration and coordination with engineers and designers when necessary to reach a consensus on complex issues.
- A history of successful project execution.
