Position Summary
McCormick Taylor is seeking a Senior Environmental Scientist with a Bachelor of Science and 5-10 years' experience. We are seeking an individual who can support multiple projects, meet deadlines and work well in a hybrid office environment. Strong written, interpersonal, and oral communication skills, attention to detail and ability to organize is required. Previous experience collaborating with team members virtually is preferred. Note that this position is primarily remote, but the candidate will be expected to report to McCormick Taylor’s office on an occasional basis in one of the following locations: Baltimore, MD; Newark, DE; Exton, PA; Philadelphia, PA; Mount Laurel, NJ; Glen Allen, VA.
Role would entail support projects to obtain the local, state and federal approvals for energy clients. Experience supporting resource assessments and other environmental documentation (state and federal) for projects. Experience with Energy Utilities, environmental studies/analysis, and local permitting (VA/MD/DE/NJ/PA) is preferred. Experience providing oversight of construction projects is not required but preferred.
Responsibilities
• Manage environmental assessment field and office efforts including:
• Wetland delineations
• Plant identification
• Biological assessments
• Report and specification writing
• Provide oversight of environmental studies/report preparation by technical staff
• Provide guidance and has expertise in environmental permitting and regulatory compliance for energy infrastructure development projects
• Lead permit application development, plan development, agency consultation and client coordination
• Represents the organization in communication and conferences pertaining to specific aspects of projects or programs
• Develop technical and cost proposals
• Mentors staff
• Assist with managing workload, writing proposals, and managing staffing needs
• Assists upper management and staff by serving as a technical specialist or advisor
• Provides QA/QC reviews on technical accuracy of work
Job Requirements:
Qualifications
• 6-10+ years of experience
• Degree: BS Required in Environmental Science, Natural Resources or a related field; MS Preferred
• Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 Suite and experience with CAD, Microstation, or GIS is a plus
• Certifications Preferred: PWS, PG, PH, EIT, PE, CE
• Knowledge of state and federal environmental regulations, interpret engineering plans, and have a strong understanding of the federal, state and local permitting process.
• Possess well-established client relationships and continue to identify and recruit new ones, leading to procurement of work
• Strong communications and technical writing skills
