Responsibilities:
- Represent clients in court or before government agencies, presenting evidence to defend or prosecute in civil litigation.
- Prepare legal documents, such as briefs, pleadings, appeals, wills, contracts, and real estate closing statements.
- Advise clients concerning business transactions, claim liability, advisability of prosecuting or defending lawsuits, or legal rights and obligations.
- Negotiate settlements of civil disputes.
- Confer with colleagues to establish and verify the basis for legal proceedings.
- Supervise legal assistants and junior attorneys, providing guidance and mentorship.
- Maintain professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of the latest developments in law and in the specific area of practice.
- Perform administrative and management functions related to the practice of law.
- Maintain a high degree of professionalism and confidentiality as per the legal industry standards.
Job Details
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Admitted to practice law and in good standing with the state bar.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in litigation, with a strong emphasis on family law.
- Proven track record of representing clients in court and achieving favorable results.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal issues in clear, understandable language.
- Excellent negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
- Strong organization and time management skills, with the ability to manage a large caseload and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in legal research tools and software.
- Commitment to adhering to the highest ethical and professional standards.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to mentor and guide junior attorneys.
- Demonstrated passion for family law and a commitment to advocating for clients in this area.
