About this Role:Power Engineering Services (PES), a Quanta Services company is looking for a Senior Field Service Technician to join our team at our Converse, TX location.
This position will report to the Services Managers and be responsible for executing and leading mid-sized field service jobs assigned to them by various service managers and leading teams assigned a scope of work within a larger project.
Senior Field Service Technician is the primary point of contact during the execution phase of all projects that are assigned and should take ownership of the projects by providing daily updates to the project management team.
What You'll Do:In addition to leading the field service teams on various projects, the Senior Field Service Technician will also be responsible for:
- Team Management
- Supervise and support field service technicians and engineers that are assigned to projects and tasks assigned.
- Perform and lead assigned tasks that are part of a larger project and ensure that all assigned technicians perform the required scope of work.
- Conduct reviews of reports from team assigned to scope of work and ensure that all results are within applicable standards and specifications.
- Job Management
- Assist with planning and scheduling of field service activities to ensure timely completion of all assigned projects.
- Inform the project management team of personnel changes and advise on whether additional resources are needed to perform the assigned scope of work.
- Ensure all technicians assigned to the project are aware of the scope of work and individual responsibilities in order to ensure indisputable execution of all assigned projects.
- Serve as the point of contact with the customer for all job-related conversations and make sure to keep all stakeholders informed of project throughout the life of the project that is assigned.
- Address customer complaints and provide solutions to ensure that we are consistently delivering indisputable results.
- Provide technical support as needed to key stakeholders and customers to ensure that all questions are being answered.
- Ensure all assigned technicians are filling out and updating timesheets.
- Communicate with technicians and engineers assigned to projects to ensure that everyone is aware of all requirements for seamless execution of all assigned jobs.
- Quality Assurance
- Ensure that all assigned scopes of work are performed in accordance with all applicable company and industry standards.
- Conduct regular audits and reviews to maintain a high level of quality control.
- Implement improvements to enhance service quality and efficiency to ensure that the highest quality product is being delivered to our customers.
- Reporting and Documentation
- Maintain accurate records of all activities performed on all assigned projects and deliver updates as required by the project management team.
- Review for quality and accuracy all datasheets and reports required for assigned projects and tasks to provide indisputable results to our customers and stakeholders.
- Document and track issues or problems encountered during field service execution and share lessons learned with the team.
- Review job reports and provide feedback to team members to drive indisputable results.
- Ensure all test equipment assigned to the project is correctly checked out and accounted for throughout the project.
- Safety and Development
- Identify issues and topics that need to be addressed and trained on.
- Ensure all safety policies are being followed and adequate for work being performed.
- Create a culture of championing safety and ensuring all employees put safety at the forefront of every task.
- Provide feedback to management on any issues that are preventing the team from championing safety.
- Mentor and coach team members to enhance their skills and performance.
- Stay updated on industry trends and best practices to improve field service operations.
- Technical Support and Execution
- Provide technical support to junior field service technicians and ensure that all issues are properly addressed and resolved to ensure the highest quality of results.
- Advise on and troubleshoot electrical systems to provide indisputable solutions for all customers to ensure any issues are properly addressed and resolved.
- Ensure all test data obtained is accurate and meets all applicable standards and that all administrative data is correct.
- Perform testing on all assigned scopes of work to include, but not limited to:
- Low Voltage Equipment
- Medium Voltage Equipment
- Transformers
- Motor Control Centers
- VFD/Soft Starts
- UPS and Battery Systems
- MV Cables
- Must have a High School diploma or GED equivalent.
- Advanced Technology Degree (preferred)
- Minimum of 5 years of high-voltage testing (relay or apparatus)
- NETA 3 or 4 Certification (strongly preferred)
- Proficient with the following, but not limited to:
- DC control circuitry drawings.
- AC three-line drawings.
- Panel wiring diagrams.
- Equipment drawings.
- Detailed knowledge of substation protection zones and relay functionality.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and maintain a good driving record.
- Able to climb up and down stairs and vertical and inclined ladders unassisted daily.
- Perform hand manipulations extended near floor level for extended periods of time.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Must be able to lift 75 lbs.
