About the Job
ECS Limited is offering a unique opportunity for a talented and certified Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Senior Field Technician I to join our Chesapeake team. In this role, you'll continue to collaborate and develop with experienced project management professionals to safely perform a variety of tasks in FieldServices department.
Responsibilities
- Field Activities: Perform observation, testing, sampling, and inspection of materials, including soils, aggregates, concrete, grout, masonry, asphalt, and structural steel placement on construction sites; Execute tasks based on project requirements under the guidance of other senior technicians, staff professionals, and project managers.
- Testing Procedures: Conduct routine field tests for soils, aggregates, concrete, grout, masonry, asphalt, and structural steel placement using various methodologies and testing equipment following industry standards and compliance.
- Data Collection: Perform calculations and data reduction based on sampling, test results, and inspections; Engage in drafting and other administrative duties as required; Develop skills in documentation and prepare field reports that document site observations for field work performed.
- Communication: Maintain daily communication with site contractors, other technicians, and project managers; Keep supervisor and project teams informed of changing site conditions and additional testing requested; Attend project meetings with senior staff as requested.
- Training and Development: Receive training in ECS methodology for project observations, inspections, and testing; Document findings with precisionin accordance with accepted engineering practices.

Required Qualifications
- 2+ years of related experience.
- High School diploma or GED.
- Must have and be willing to maintain current basic level certifications and an additional 2 advanced certifications.
- OSHA 10 is a plus.
- Position requires carrying 40 – 70 lbs multiple times a day or occasionally lifting 85 lbs to waist height.
- Must have valid driver's license and insurance.
- Must provide suitable transportation for use on job sites – Mileage will be reimbursed.
- Strong communication skills (speaking, reading, and writing).
- Excellent understanding of heavy construction safety, practices, and procedures.
- Ability to work effectively with clients, peers, and supervisors.
- Proficiency with electronic devices such as phones, tablets, and laptops.
- Strong math skills with the ability to read maps, follow directions, and interpret engineering and construction plans.
- Basic knowledge of MS Office.
