The Senior Finance Analyst, Portfolio Decision Analysis is the operational lead for the Janssen R&D Portfolio Valuations process, along with serving as SME for R&D Investment analytics for the portfolio. The position is responsible for driving robust and data-driven financial insights on the total JRD portfolio to support senior leadership in their strategic decisions that support the near- and long-term health of the pharmaceutical business.
Key responsibilities for this role include:
- Operational Valuations lead for Innovative Medicine: manage process, timelines, and guidelines across Finance Teams (R&D, Supply Chain, Tax) and owner of valuation tool (Optimus)
- Synthesize R&D Valuation submissions and support development of consolidated review materials for senior leadership (Pharm GOC, EC); prepare and deliver corporate submissions, including for Strat Plan and Platform Analyses
- Support R&D analytics; provide support to development of narrative and implications, create senior leadership review materials (Pharm GOC)
- Role has high level of visibility to R&D leadership, including regular opportunities to present to R&D CFO
- Liaise and closely collaborate across several groups including: Therapeutic Area teams, FP&A, R&D Portfolio Management, Enterprise R&D Finance, Supply Chain, Tax, Optimus, among others, to deliver internal and external reporting requirements related to Janssen R&D and Valuations
- Partner closely with the rest of the R&D portfolio finance team to analyze current and future R&D investment requirements and growth outlook, in support of defining and carrying out optimal investment allocation strategy.
- Provide decision support to R&D Investment Committee.
- Lead and participate in ad hoc strategic projects and special requests

- A minimum of a bachelor's degree is required with preferably a major in Accounting or Finance; an MBA and/or CPA, CMA or other advanced certifications are preferred.
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience in accounting, finance or in a related field is required.
- Strong collaboration and demonstrated business partnering with the ability to influence is required.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and be able to recommend and implement operational improvements, work independently and handle several tasks simultaneously, required.
- Experienced professional with strong communication skills who is able to interact with senior management is required.
- Candidate must possess excellent analytical (MS Excel) and presentation (PowerPoint), as well as conceptual, communication and interpersonal skills is required.
- The ability to think creatively and work in a team environment is required.
- Candidate must have a strong track record in business partnering and project management and must work well in a dynamic environment, required.
- This role can be based in Titusville, NJ, Raritan, NJ or Spring House, PA, with travel to other NJ/PA R&D offices, when required.
The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation's performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company's discretion on an individual basis.
