Purpose:
The Financial Analyst II is responsible for developing, interpreting, and implementing financial information and concepts for planning for certain projects and portions of our business. The Financial Analyst II must be able to devise financial models and perform technical analysis to determine present and future expected financial performance. The position is responsible for understanding and complying with internal controls and GAAP; defining and supporting accounting and financial goals; gathering, analyzing, preparing and summarizing recommendations for financial plans, trending future requirements and operating forecasts; conduct monthly financial reviews with managers; develop process improvements while being responsible for several ongoing tasks; support the accounting department by managing the processing of certain functions including A/P, billing and purchasing files, contracts and other relevant documentation; coordinate data collection; assist in special projects as assigned.
Responsibilities:
- Drive solutions to complex operations and financial issues to completion
- Financial planning and analysis including forecast/budget, performance metrics and ad-hoc analysis
- Coordinate with sales, marketing, operations, and accounting/finance to create budget/forecast
- Some accounting duties including revenue recognition, expense and capital reconciliations and select journal entries
- Ensure corporate financial procedures and policies are properly enforced
- Lead integration tasks aimed toward improved accounting/forecast cycle processes
- Review business plans, industry trends and vendor contracts for accuracy and forecasting purposes
- Contract backlog reporting and analysis
- Responsible for some purchasing/vendor management coordination with functional managers
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of products and technology supporting 911 public safety and/or telecom space preferred
- Competency modeling/forecasting financial business activities, and knowledge of accounting processes
- Proven history of being able to work independently and amongst teams to achieve objectives
- Proven history of analyzing situations, employing creative and effective decision making to solve problems, achieve results
- Ability to present written and verbal material to executive management
Requirements:
- BA in finance or accounting required, 4+ years in a Finance Analyst or Sr. Finance Analyst position or similar responsibility required, MBA a plus
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, with strong verbal, analytical and written communication skills
- Willingness to work 40-45+ hours/week to meet objectives
- Strong forecasting, budgeting and accounting knowledge/experience required
- Advanced MS Excel skills required. i.e. business modeling and design experience
- Strong planning and execution skills; ability to drive projects to completion and stay on task
- Experience with Accounting/Financial Systems required, experience with Deltek Costpoint and/or Cognos reporting is a plus.
- Comfortable with large amounts of data and able to identify key trends and variances and summarize.
