Job Summary
The Financial Planning Analyst is a member of the corporate FP&A team and plays a key role in planning and reporting processes. Reporting to the Senior Financial Planning & Analysis Manager the position comes with high visibility and focuses on consolidated reporting including preparation of executive reports, presentations, and underlying analysis. As the Senior Financial Planning Analyst, you will act as a bridge between the Accounting department and functional business partners to assist with the monthly close and provide insight to the numbers. The position will support the enhancement of Adaptive Insights Financial Planning tool reporting and functionality. The Analyst is expected to support Manufacturing Operations and Repair Operations from a reporting and costing standpoint.
Responsibilities
Financial Planning Analyst
- Assist the Senior Financial Planning & Analysis Manager in the development and communication of annual budget and quarterly forecast processes and reports.
- Support the forecasting for all Operations departments by researching drivers and providing recommendations of forecasted line items.
- Perform financial analysis as part of forecast process including version over version, year over year, trend analysis, and other ad hoc analysis.
- Assist with forecasting the Inventory and Excess and Obsolescence.
- Support the preparation of monthly and quarterly executive level reporting packages.
- Prepare for monthly budget to actual review meetings with department leaders and accounting personnel by preparing templates and performing variance analysis.
- Assist in the maintenance of Adaptive Insights planning tool including modification of reports and set up of new products, departments, customers, GL Accounts, etc.
- Proficiency in Standard Costing and Operational Reporting.
- Assist with other FP&A related duties as assigned.
Senior Financial Planning Analyst
In addition to items listed for Financial Planning Analyst, a Sr Financial Planning Analyst may also be responsible for the following:
- Lead monthly budget to actual review meetings with department leaders.
- Provide insight to budgets, actuals, and variances to functional business partners.
- Contribute to the development of the detailed financial analysis, development of comprehensive pro forma financial models, valuation analysis, and synergy models in support of potential transactions.
- Identify department planning process improvements, make recommendations, and execute.
- Create new standard reports and templates leveraging Adaptive Insights and/or Tableau.
- Prior Experience with product costing, cost pools, and Manufacturing Labor and Overhead.
- Analysis of Manufacturing & Repair (or just Operations) performance against plan.
- Assist with month end close processes.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Broad financial acumen including a strong foundation in accounting and corporate finance principles.
- Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) internal control environment.
- Proficiency with financial planning software (Adaptive Insights, preferred).
- High proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office software tools including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong quantitative and analytic skills with the ability to synthesize data into meaningful conclusions and recommendations.

Qualifications (Experience and Education)
Level I
Financial Planning Analyst
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or relevant discipline, required.
- 2-5 years of experience in FP&A or a related area.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office, required.
- Experience with Adaptive Insights or similar FP&A planning software.
- ERP experience (Oracle is a plus).
- Tableau experience is a plus.
- A combination of training, education and experience that is equivalent to the qualifications listed above and that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Level II
Sr Financial Planning Analyst
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or relevant discipline, required.
- 5-7 years of experience in FP&A or a related area, required.
- Advanced knowledge/proficiency in Microsoft Office, required.
- Proficiency with Adaptive Insights or similar FP&A planning software.
- ERP experience (Oracle is a plus).
- Previous experience with data warehouses and BI tools (Tableau, preferred).
- A combination of training, education and experience that is equivalent to the qualifications listed above and that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
