JOB DESCRIPTION:
Assist with the preparation of both internal and external reporting documents and work on complex accounting projects including new US GAAP accounting standard implementations, accounting research and issue resolution, and international coordination with accounting teams around the globe. Assist in gathering, analyzing, and producing internal and external Greif Financial reports in accordance with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Assist with the monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidation and closing activities. Perform financial analysis of the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial results. Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual reports filed with the SEC, specifically, form 10Q, 10K, 11K, and 8K. Assist in the preparation of Greif’s quarterly earnings release, conference calls, and other investor presentations. Support the schedules and requests of external auditors. Act as the single point of contact for one or more Greif's Global Strategic Business Units. Complete special projects as assigned. Telecommuting permitted.
REQUIREMENTS:
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field, plus 3 years of experience as an Accountant or related occupation. Additionally, the applicant must have professional experience with: 1) Utilizing US GAAP acumen to assist business partners on quarterly SEC filing inquiries and research; 2) Preparing presentations on US GAAP and internal policies for internal business partners to promote continual learning and improvement; 3) Performing monthly close procedures for the global enterprise, including leveraging US GAAP technical accounting consolidation knowledge and rules; 4) Periodically preparing filings, including 8-K, 10Q, and 10K based on knowledge of SEC rules and regulations; 5) Performing research on relevant complex disclosure matters, including acquisitions and divestitures, using knowledge in US GAPP and SEC Regulations; 6) Creating account reconciliations, using Microsoft Excel, when variances exist between forecasted expectations and actual results; 7) Reviewing financial statements and analytics and providing business partners constructive feedback on modifications needed; 8) Preparing and reviewing Sarbanes and Oxley controls; 9) Performing control walkthroughs with internal and external auditors; 10) Forecasting financial impacts of standard and infrequent activities through collaboration with business partners.
