Job description

J.Crew is seeking a Senior Infrastructure Operations Engineer to join our dynamic IT organization. This position will support our continued efforts of a New Crew across our digital platforms.  

Responsibilities:

• Work as part of a lean System Operations and Engineering team to manage the definition and maintenance of a comprehensive and cross-functional Infrastructure and cloud platform.
• Design and implement infrastructure automation process using Ansible, Poweshell and Python.
• Responsible for managing a complex hybrid infrastructure platform including AWS, Linux, Backup & Storage, Disaster Recovery areas.
• Maintain consistency across cloud environment using operational processes, runbooks and efficient release management processes.
• Work hands-on to engineer complex solutions and architectures across J.Crew Infrastcuture Systems
• Play a role of an AWS as an infrastructure technology SME and define practical, implementable and actionable architectural vision and framework, tailored to business partner requirements 
• Provides ongoing guidance and governance throughout the implementation and ongoing operation of the platform the architecture is supporting. 
• Participate in the Architecture Review Board to review, assess and provide guidance to applications and architecture presented from other business / technology areas. 
• Define and implement key strategic technology platforms and solutions for the future growth and success of the business.
• Work hands-on to created and validate technology prototypes and concepts in an AWS Cloud environment.
• Provides technical guidance and mentorship to the engineering and support teams.
• Ensure the solutions meets the necessary security standards and assist in the definition of these standards where lacking.

Skills required:

• Extensive Hands-experience building complex AWS solutions using multiple AWS services is REQUIRED
• Scripting with Python, Bash, and optionally PowerShell
• Experience using platforms such as Ansible (Preferred), Chef, or Puppet
• Self-motivated, forward thinker who is able to envision and consider the future state while still balancing the practicalities of the immediate constraints. 
• Able to demonstrate entrepreneurial characteristics and be organized
• Ability to solve complex problems in complex and loosely defined contexts, through raw analytical power and previous experience 
• Ability to collect, interpret and cluster relevant information from business partners and third parties in order to create and orchestrate relevant and innovative architectures. 
• Clearly demonstrates leadership in tackling multiple, complex issues to create effective and long-lasting solutions, guiding and advising the customer 
• Ability to create high-quality documentation and presentations reflecting tangible architectures and related topics 
• Excellent cross-functional communications skills and customer influencing and relationship skills at all levels of the organization 
• Skills in directing federated teams comprised of direct reports, matrixed reports and 3rd parties. 
• Experience architecting and / or migrating enterprise application to any of the major public cloud providers. 
• Experience architecting highly-scalable, elastic architectures for high-volume transactional customer-facing application 
• Experience defining non-functional application requirements 
• Knowledge of server-less architecture and developing application in this fashion. Experience preferred. 
• Experience working with an Agile DEVOPS development methodology using continuous integration / continuous deployment (CI/CD) processes 

Preferred technology experience:  

• Basic coding and development including Python, PowerShell, Bash, HTML, JSON, XML
• API Development and micros-services architectures and solutions
• Experience or good understanding of other periphery areas like, Windows, VDI, Citrix, AD, etc.
• DevOps processes and tools including continuous integration and deployment
• Event driven integration and solutions
• AWS Cloud solution engineering.
• Cloud migration of on-premises infrastructure
• Ansible and Ansible Tower
• Operation architecture development including monitoring and support processes for hybrid datacenters
• Integration / API Architecture: JSON, REST, SOAP, XML, AWS Lambda, AWS API Manager, Open API specification 

Education/Experience/Certifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with IT focused specialization.
• 5+ years working experience in hands-on technology delivery roles
• 3+ in Solution Architect or Cloud Architect role 
• 5+ years engineering experience developing and operating software solutions at scale in an enterprise retail environment 
• 5+ years working in an agile delivery environment and versed in scrum, LESS, Safe and other agile delivery frameworks at scale 
• 3+ years working with public cloud providers. Amazon Web Services preferred
