Job Details
The Senior Insurance Defense Trial Attorney will be responsible for handling high-stakes litigation matters for our insurance company clients. This position requires a seasoned professional with extensive courtroom experience and a proven track record of successful case outcomes.
Responsibilities:
- Manage a diverse caseload of complex insurance defense matters from inception through trial or settlement
- Represent clients in court proceedings, including trials, hearings, arbitrations, and mediations
- Conduct thorough case investigations, legal research, and discovery processes
- Develop and implement effective litigation strategies aligned with client objectives
- Prepare and argue motions, draft pleadings, and other legal documents
- Negotiate settlements and plea agreements when appropriate
- Provide legal advice and counsel to insurance company clients on risk management and litigation matters
- Mentor and supervise junior attorneys and support staff
- Stay current with relevant laws, regulations, and industry trends affecting insurance defense litigation in California
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
- Active membership in the California State Bar in good standing
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in insurance defense litigation
- Proven track record of successful trial outcomes and case management
- Strong analytical, writing, and oral advocacy skills
- Excellent negotiation and client communication abilities
- Proficiency in legal research tools and case management software
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in workers' compensation defense
- Familiarity with both commercial and personal lines insurance policies
- Background in handling cases involving great complexity and/or high exposure
