About the Job
Client: Insurance Company
4 month contract with potential to extend and convert based on performance
Payrate: $55/hr-$65/hr
Location: Midtown West, NYC
Hybrid Tuesday -Thursday in office
****Must have experience in the Insurance industry OR the software "Clear Water"
The primary responsibilities are:
Participate the preparation of financial data for quarterly and annual reports in accordance with US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Statutory Accounting Principles (SAP) and other regulatory commission requirements
Assist in month-end, quarter-end, and year-end accounting close and reporting for Investment accounting
Activities performed include the preparation of journal entries, financial analysis, account reconciliations and reporting to internal and external stakeholders.
Prepare and analyze complex standard and ad hoc investment financial reports for management.
Prepare workpapers related to both internal and external audit requests.
Ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley internal control requirements
The job requirements are:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting from a four-year college or university
Clear knowledge and proven abilities in investment accounting and portfolio management/analysis and a minimum of3+ years of accounting experience, preferably investment accounting or analysis in a property/casualty insurance environment.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and verbal/written communication skills.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage, prioritize and effectively meet deadlines for multiple assignments simultaneously.
Strong teamwork skills and display professional demeanor encompassing company’s vision and values.
Remain flexible in a fast-paced environment and possess a customer focused attitude.
Proficient PC skills, particularly in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
Experience with Clearwater and Oracle General Ledger applications preferred.
2-3 days work from home
