Read more: careers.bms.com/working-with-us.Position Summary:BMS is seeking a passionate, inquisitive, and energetic leader to enable change in a world-class pharmaceutical enterprise by defining needs and recommending solutions that deliver value to our Drug Discovery Researchers.The Senior IT Business Analyst (Sr. IT BA) is accountable for the effective delivery of IT capabilities and services supporting BMS Research, with broad focus on the Small Molecule Drug Discovery (SMDD), Pharmaceutical Candidate Optimization (PCO), Nonclinical Safety & Veterinary Sciences (NCS/VS), and Mechanisms of Cancer Resistance (MoCR) organizations.This individual will partner with IT colleagues and scientific researchers to identify, define, and drive digital capabilities to meet specific strategic and operational needs, including cross functional initiatives enabling the broader Research and IT organizations.The Sr. IT BA will be a member of a cross-functional Technology team who flexibly analyze digital capabilities aligned directly to business functions. This individual will collaborate with IT Business Partners, Product Managers, Digital Capability Managers, Domain-focused Scientific Researchers, and other Enabling partners with cross-functional insights. Furthermore, the Sr. IT BA will be expected to oversee Jr. IT Business Analysts and Consultants on the delivery of technical capabilities.The Sr. IT BA’s contributions will shape BMS’s abilities to discover, develop, and deliver innovative medicines that help patients prevail over serious diseases. Success in this role will leverage analysis and problem-solving skills that create positive, value-producing solutions.Key Responsibilities:Partners with IT Peers: Research IT to provide insightful and actionable analysis in support of the portfolio of digital capability investments.Shapes Business Demands: Elicits business needs with creative empathy, maps complex processes, discovers root causes, curate requirements and user stories, and maintains a spotlight on business value opportunities in support of investment justification, planning, and execution. Manages Stakeholder Experiences: Generates rich and insightful stakeholder and sponsor assessments to manage expectations and advise on anticipated challenge and impedance in the delivery of IT services and capabilities.Constructively Advocates for Value: Represents the "voice of the customer" and ensures project delivery teams are well informed to make the right trade-offs between speed, quality, and cost. Connects the business stakeholders with the broader IT services. Supports identification of value opportunities across the entire lifecycle of the digital investments.Enables Compelling Business Cases: Aids in the development of business cases for new digital capability investments. Identifies, defines, & measures business outcomes for highest value digital capabilities. Brings an External View: Actively maintains awareness of external drivers in the business domain and relevant technology trends and brings innovative ideas.Leverages Cross-Organizational Relationships: Ensures that all IT functions are successful in their delivery of services to SMDD, PCO, NCS/VS, and MoCR.Influences Service Providers and Delivery Teams: Understands IT business partner accountabilities throughout the portfolio lifecycle and builds empowered and trusting partnerships with IT delivery team members at all levels. Influences change management strategies in support of capability establishment.Shows Good Judgement in Communication: Communicates successes and issues accurately, urgently, and to the right audience, and takes accountability for ensuring effective management of expectations with IT peers and business stakeholders.Boldly Acts with Urgency: Shows courage, tenacity, and respect to provoke uncomfortable conversations in order to remove roadblocks to value delivery.Expresses a Growth Mindset: Demonstrates a passion for skillset development within Business Relationship Management, Business Analysis, and the Pharmaceutical scientific domain.Advances Our Business Analysis Practice: Ability to bring in mature, impactful, and sustainable business analysis behaviors that drive change and deliver value.Desired Experience:B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in a relevant scientific or technical domain preferred.Relevant expertise in the application of IT capabilities to drive business value in a relevant domain.Track record of leading the analysis of complex and ambiguous business needs and integrating those needs into compelling and actionable strategic plans and investment business cases with broad reach and impact.Track record of delivering high-value digital capability projects within timelines and budget.5+ years of progressive information technology experience, with responsibility for scientific application analysis, design, or support.Strong collaboration, communication, and presentation skills.Demonstrated commitment to creative thinking and application of innovative approaches within a relevant scientific domain.Working knowledge of agile methodologies applied to SDLC and IT services.IIBA Certification or similar Business Analysis Certification, a strong plus.Experience with computer system validation in a regulated environment a plus.#LI-HybridIf you come across a role that intrigues you but doesn’t perfectly line up with your resume, we encourage you to apply anyway.
