Senior Director of IT
A Senior Director of IT manages and oversees an organization's technical operations and ensures all technology systems and applications support the organization's goals and objectives. Their role is overseeing all IT operations and evaluations in line with organizational objectives. Their responsibilities are liaising with other departments, determining and addressing any needs and requirements, managing and supervising employees in the IT field, ensuring the maintenance of current designs and technology systems, identifying vulnerabilities and opportunities for improvement, proposing strategic solutions and recommending new systems and software, preparing financial budgets and performance reports, building and maintaining relationships with external advisors and vendors, and ensuring reported issues are resolved promptly.
Function of the Position:
The primary responsibility of the Senior Director, Information Technology Operations is to manage the IT teams that support network server infrastructures, client hardware and software, account management and controls, and database administration, ensuring that they are aligned to support DAI�s ability to successfully meet its business objectives. This individual�s principal goals are to develop solutions and methodologies that allow for the effective and smooth management of an infrastructure that supports DAI�s Business Units, Corporate Service departments and project offices and to attain service level agreements for users across the organization.
The Senior Director, IT Operations will plan, design, and direct all operational activities of the IT Operations department, as well as provide direction and support for IT solutions that enhance mission-critical business operations. The Director/Senior Director, IT Operations will work closely with decision makers in other departments to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support cost-effective technology solutions for all aspects of the organization.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Strategy & Planning
- Collaborate with Vice President, Information Management and Technology to formulate and deploy long-term strategic plans for acquiring and enabling efficient and cost-effective information processing and communication technologies.
- Manage IT department operational and strategic planning, including business requirements, project planning, and organizing and negotiating the allocation of resources.
- Guide business and IT leaders in making investment decisions that balance and prioritize current operational demands, disruptions, and opportunities with the longer-term strategic vision of the organization.
- Provide technology guidance, road maps, principles, standards, and best practices.
Operational Management
- Where necessary, re-engineer infrastructure support to ensure it aligns with business processes, tactical planning, and strategic vision.
- Define and communicate project milestones, service level agreements, and resource allocation to executive team, department leads, support staff, and end users.
- Develop and review budgets for and from IT department divisions and ensure they comply with stated goals, guidelines, and objectives.
- Review performance of IT systems to determine operating costs, productivity levels, and upgrade requirements.
- Benchmark, analyze, report on, and make recommendations for the improvement of the IT infrastructure and IT systems.
- Develop bid requirements for all hardware and software upgrades, review submitted bids for compliance with stated requirements, and makes the appropriate award.
- Authorize and oversee the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, and support of all hardware and software based on department needs.
- Develop business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses for IT spending and initiatives.
- Direct research on potential technology solutions and implementations in support of new initiatives, opportunities, and procurement efforts.
- Oversee provision of end-user services, including help desk and technical support services.
- Develop and implement all IT policies and procedures, including those for architecture, security, disaster recovery, standards, purchasing, and service provision.
- Oversee negotiation and administration of vendor, outsourcer, and consultant contracts and service agreements.
- Manage IT staffing, including recruitment, supervision, scheduling, development, evaluation, and disciplinary actions.
- Establish and maintain regular written and in-person communications with the organization�s senior leaders, department heads, and end users regarding pertinent IT activities.
- This is not a Remote position.

Qualifications:
- Minimum 13 years of relevant work experience and a bachelor�s degree, or 11 years of relevant work experience and a master�s degree or 9 years of relevant work experience and a PhD. Degrees in computer science, information systems, or business administration with technology as a core component preferred.
- Minimum 17 years of relevant work experience and a bachelor�s degree, or 15 years of relevant work experience and a master�s degree or 13 years of relevant work experience and a PhD. Degrees in computer science, information systems, or business administration with technology as a core component preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience managing and/or directing an IT operation.
- Proven experience in IT infrastructure strategic planning and development, project management, and/or policy development.
- Good understanding and technical knowledge of current network and client operating systems, hardware, protocols, and standards, such as Windows OS, cloud platforms like O365 and Azure, HP hardware common desktop productivity software solutions.
- Experience with systems design and development from business requirements analysis through to day-to-day management.
- Demonstrated experience in developing business processes, managing staff, budgeting, and/or overseeing business office operations.
- Demonstrated ability to apply IT in solving business problems.
- In-depth knowledge of applicable laws and regulations as they relate to IT.
- Ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language.
- Highly self-motivated, self-directed, and attentive to detail.
- Extensive experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
- Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Supervisory Requirements: Will supervise Managers in IT.
