We are looking for a customer-centric technician with desk-side support experience and passion to join our technology team. This is a new role in a new location with a limited number of peers as we develop and build a new office location. You may be asked to travel between locations and/or work beyond the standard Monday-Friday schedule/8 AM – 5 PM hours. Because this is a new office, you will most likely need to be on-site more often to start, with future remote work opportunities to come.
Key Responsibilities
Hardware and Asset Management (75%):
- Troubleshooting and resolving hardware and software problems for end-users
- Performing root cause analysis to identify recurring issues and propose long-term solutions
- Installing, configuring, and updating operating systems, software applications, and security patches on end-user devices and servers
- Conducting tests and evaluations on new and existing hardware and software to ensure compatibility and performance
- Providing end-user training and support on new technologies and system functionalities
- Implementing and troubleshooting systems, including hardware and software
- Acting as liaison for the asset management team to ensure all inventory and locations are up to date for any deployed inventory, as well as maintaining ample stock of replacement items
- Providing setup, operation, and technical support of multimedia equipment for audio-visual events
- Acting as “boots on the ground” for any maintenance of PCs, and terminals, including software patching, antivirus updates, etc.
Project Work and Processes (15%):
- Maintaining and updating technical documentation, including system configurations, procedures, and knowledge base articles
- Implementing IT projects and upgrades as required
- Following IT policies and procedures to ensure data security and compliance with industry standards
- Developing and executing test plans to identify bugs, vulnerabilities, and any other issues
- Deploying and setting up new software and systems following organizational policies and standards
- Maintaining accurate system documentation, procedures, and logical and physical diagrams
- Collecting and reviewing system data for troubleshooting purposes as needed
- Coordinate with appropriate management personnel in implementing changes
- Acting in a supporting role on larger project and maintenance efforts, as needed
- Working with minimal supervision/oversight to learn new technologies using self-study materials
- Articulating technical information clearly and simply to customers or other non-technical personnel
- Following ITSM and customer journey processes
- Multi-tasking and working in cross-functional teams
- Taking ownership of minor tasks, problems, or operational efforts
Infrastructure/Systems Engineering (10%):
- Troubleshooting system performance, including servers, network devices, and applications, to ensure optimal operation.
- Assisting with diagnostic tool usage and monitoring software to detect and address system anomalies and performance bottlenecks as needed
- Reporting on system status and potential issues
- Documenting test results and working with developers or vendors to resolve identified problems
- Assisting systems administrators with the maintenance and configuration of network-related hardware/software, including Active Directory and Group Policy management as needed
- Working with systems administrators on special projects and researching new technologies
Core Strengths and Skills
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft Certified IT Professional) preferred
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in an IT support role, with a solid understanding of computer systems, networks, and troubleshooting methodologies
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Windows 10 and 11, Microsoft Windows Server 2016 and later, Microsoft 365, macOS, Android and iOS
- Proficiency in installing, configuring, and maintaining software and hardware
- Familiarity with network protocols, server management, and monitoring tools
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users
- Demonstrates a strong commitment to addressing end-user issues with urgency and efficiency
- Prioritizes and resolves technical problems swiftly to minimize downtime and ensure uninterrupted access to critical systems and applications
- Familiarity with network protocols, server management, and monitoring tools
- Knowledge of Active Directory and domain environments
- Knowledge with creating and imaging PCs
- Experience with ServiceNow, SCCM, and Azure are helpful but not required
