Power Your Future at Qualus as a Senior Civil Structural Engineer.
Responsibilities:- Apply standard civil codes and techniques for substation project work with a focus on civil design including site layout, grading, storm drainage (retention and/or detention ponds), roads, and environmental (oil containment and SPCC) and governmental permitting requirements. Design may be for both new and retrofits of existing stations.
- Develop overall conceptual design plans in the initial development phase of new projects.
- Work with renewable energy developers and other clients with support specific to schedules and cost estimates.
- Develop the design concept for drainage systems in accordance with established standards.
- Analyze and interpret public agencies regulations and procedures.
- Design foundations using commercially available software such as LPILE.
- Develop steel structure models for rigid bus and equipment supports.
- Delegating, planning, prioritizing, and reviewing the work of other engineers, designers, and drafters will be critical.
- Perform company’s Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) processes are being followed on all design packages.
- Establish and maintain professional relationships with our external business partners; Present information and respond to questions from individual or groups of clients, permitting agencies, and the general public.
- Direct and/or participate in client meetings/job site visits to collect or deliver design and engineering data.
- Mentor less experienced staff on a wide range of technical and project management skills.
- Coordinate with other engineering disciplines.
- Some marketing responsibilities and other duties as assigned.
- Bachelors of Science or Masters in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited institution.
- Proficient with drafting programs such as AutoCAD and MicroStation a plus.
- Experience in transmission, distribution and generating stations is a plus.
- Must have strong analytical and computer skills. Must be able to identify necessary software to complete needed design work.
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record are required.
- Professional Engineer (PE) License is required.
