Areas of expertise include project development, design, and construction, workplace services, facility management and inspections, sustainability, and environmental management.

Description:
Immediate need for a Building Inspector who is preferably a licensed engineer or architect to perform parapet inspections in accordance with NYC Local Law 126 guidelines. The Engineer/Architect will be responsible for preparing and submitting to the owner (the Archdiocese of the City of New York) detailed condition reports at each site. Condition reports are to be prepared for each site. The archdiocese has over 200 schools in the Bronx, Manhattan, and Staten Island, encompassing over 400 buildings. The position is temporary to begin in October and will be approximately 5 months with possible extensions.

Responsibilities:

• Perform condition assessments of the parapets for each building required in the survey.
• Reports will include factual data such as address, name and location of building, date of observation, location plan, etc.
• Reports will include the construction details of each parapet, including material, height, and thickness.
• General conditions must be noted, whether any unsafe conditions were found, actions taken to remedy the unsafe conditions.
• The current reports should include mention of any repairs made to the parapets.
• The reports should include dated photographs.

Qualifications:

• 10+ years of experience in similar condition inspections
• Proven experience with building inspections covering the building fac¸ade, the building envelope, the building roof, parapets, cornices, etc., the ability to physically perform those inspections.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Must be willing and able to work outside in all weather conditions and travel to jobsites.

Education:
Must have at least a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Architecture. License desired but not required.
