Sandy Spring Bank is currently recruiting for a Senior Loan Servicer. Under occasional supervision and following established procedures, the successful candidate will perform a variety of duties related to servicing new and existing Commercial, Consumer and Mortgage loans. Includes functions such as loan boarding (booking) of complex deals such as Forebearance Agreements, Workouts, SWAPs and Participations. Responsible for researching complex problems and providing output which can be used to train the team and others. Root cause analysis and risk prevention should be a focus of these efforts.
This role is expected to participate in projects at both the enterprise and department levels. This role is also expected to work closely with peers to achieve optimal results. An individual in this role will be required to identify and recommend changes to processes to ensure scalable and efficient processing within the team.
Some customer contact is required at all levels, primarily by telephone, to answer inquiries or assistance in research. Familiarity with the FIS IBS loan system is preferred but not required.
MAJOR JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Daily Life of Loan Servicing Tasks - Accurately booking of new loans and modifications to the core system IBS. Review applicable loan documents and be able to recognize all information necessary for the proper set up. This may include corrections identified by the Quality Assurance review. Process loan payment, payoffs and advances for Commercial, Consumer and Residential loans. Review and monitor various quality assurance reports. Assists management with monitoring daily workflow to ensure work in evenly distributed.
- Problem Solving - Takes ownership of problems escalated through internal and external sources. This may include issues related to booking or servicing of Commercial, Consumer and Residential loans. May also be responsible for research and resolution of financial transactions impacting the banks books and records. Identifies and facilitates process changes with broader viewpoint in mind.
- Project Support – Particpates as a SME in enterprise level projects, interacting closely with Project Management Office (PMO) as needed. May also lead department level projects with partners from across the broader organization. Reponsible for representing the teams broader vision through these projects
- Teamwork - Assists other team member in Loan Servicing as needed.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: We should include any experience that is needed in this section. i.e. any degree, years of experience etc.
- Problem solving skills are necessary to find solutions to problems that are technically complex and require interpretation, analysis, and understanding of bank systems. Must be able to multi-task and handle large volumes of work while maintaining accuracy.
- Highly detail oriented with a critical degree of accuracy regarding data entry and analysis; good interpersonal and organizational skills; ability to prioritize work and to perform multiple tasks simultaneously while adhering to deadlines.
- Must be a team player and also accomplish tasks independently. Reaches out to peers and cooperates with supervisors to establish an overall collaborative working relationship.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment such as calculator, copier, etc. Experience using personal computers systems including Microsoft Office Excel Microsoft Word and database applications required.
- Position requires external and internal contact in seeking or supplying routine information. Appropriate interpersonal and telephone skills needed to maintain a positive rapport throughout the organization.
Loan Servicing Levels
Position requires 5-7 years work experience in loan servicing or related banking experience. A candidate should have experience with system conversions either having served as a SME or have responsibility for post conversion monitoring activities. A candidate should be familiar with root cause analysis and remediation practices associate with a commercial, consumer or mortgage portfolios. Position requires familiarity with general accounting principles common to the banking industry.
SPECIFIC PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Work requires reasonable mobility in and around the work area. Ability to use standard computer and phone systems is required
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Normal office environment where there is almost no discomfort due to temperature, dust, noise, or other disagreeable elements.
Work includes little or no potential exposure to hazardous conditions.
Must be able to travel to remote company and/or client locations.
