Barrios Technology is looking for an innovative Information Technology leader to join our team. In this critical managerial role, you will provide proactive leadership over supervisors and their employees in support of NASA missions. This dynamic team is tasked with oversight of both operational IT services and technical offerings, as well as software development of IT services that sustain and support the International Space Station (ISS); establish a permanent commercial presence in Low Earth Orbit (LEO); and will take astronauts out of low earth orbit and to the Moon for the first time in more than 50 years. As IT Senior Manager, you will oversee team members as they build and update computer systems that align with the goals of the NASA organizations we service. Your team will develop, launch, and enhance the organization's applications according to the standards and objectives set by our best practices and the organizations. You will also collaborate closely with other departments to understand their IT requirements, needs and preferences and will evaluate, prioritize, and manage the build of the systems/solutions accordingly. You will also regularly scan and evaluate the organization's current systems to find any risks, vulnerabilities, and improvement opportunities. As IT Senior Manager, you will then meet with the leadership team to propose and recommend any new software, resources, or solutions to help the IT team meet their organizational goals.
This position is a regular full-time opportunity and is required to work at least 3 to 4 days a week from the Johnson Space Center located in the Clear Lake area of Houston Texas. For the right candidate, relocation will be considered.
Responsibilities:
The Senior Manager Information Technology (IT) will:
- Lead IT initiatives and implement the IT strategy and plans that align with the organization's overall IT strategy and goals.
- Manage the day-to-day IT activities for large team of IT Professionals.
- Manage and monitor the performance of the IT team to ensure that service delivery meets or exceeds agreed service levels and Key Performance Indicator (KPIs).
- Ensure that the IT infrastructure, systems, and applications are secure, reliable, and meet business needs.
- Identify opportunities for improvement and optimization of IT operations and services and make recommendations for changes.
- Manage the IT budget, ensuring that expenditures are in line with the agreed budget and are used effectively.
- Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to understand their IT requirements and to develop solutions that meet their needs.
- Stay up to date with emerging IT trends and technologies and assess their potential impact on the organization's IT strategy.
- Manage relationships with third-party vendors and service providers and ensure that they deliver quality services and solutions.
- Provide leadership, coaching, mentoring and evaluations for the IT team, and develop their skills and capabilities.
- Establish excellent working relationships with customer base and critical stakeholders to gain their advocacy in the execution of Cross-Program initiatives and in the implementation of process improvements and innovative solutions.
- Perform other duties as required
Required Education/Experience/Skills:
- BA/BS Degree in Information Technology (IT) or STEM related field from an accredited college or university, plus ten (10) years of experience working in IT operations, supervising technology teams, and overseeing large and complex information technology projects; OR an equivalent of 12 years IT experience and applicable IT training
- History of career progression and managerial experience of large IT teams
- Sound understanding of computer systems, networks, security, telecommunications, databases and storage systems.
- Able to lead software development projects and versed in different styles of delivery.
- Ability to promote and drive project management and quality assurance activities and efficiencies.
- Strong interpersonal, communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to manage and prioritize tasks and projects.
- Efficiently evaluate and establish new service offerings.
- Successfully deal with team restructuring and growth.
- Ability to staff team and proficient in skill evaluation.
- Solid working knowledge of all relevant coding languages and security protocols.
- Experience working in a compliance driven organization and meeting compliance requirements.
- Ability to work with distributed team, including remote locations and different time zones.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Team-oriented.
Preferences:
- Experience working in the NASA industry is a plus.
- Background in Data Center activities.
- Experienced in dealing with procurement process including performing trade studies
Essential Requirements:
- Must be a U.S. Citizen and successfully complete a U.S. government background investigation.
