As a people leader and contributor in our Hardware Engineering group, you'll be operating on a global scale in a newly developed team within the Play Engineering organization in Product Innovation and Design at the LEGO Group in Boston!
Core Responsibilities
+ Serve as an individual contributor and manager of an engineering team accountable for all dimensions of Mechatronics solutions used within our products to deliver awesome play experiences.
+ Champion and demonstrate best practices for engineering, teamwork, innovation, and delivery as we together develop new play experiences at the boundary between the physical and the digital world.
+ Work with both internal technical staff and external partners to ensure robust integrated solutions are delivered at excellent quality and high volume to the market.
+ Bring to the team their demonstrated experience in all dimensions of high-volume mechatronic product development, including expertise in small-scale motors, other classes of small actuators, sensors, and complex kinematic systems.
+ Contribute to a larger simulation capability growth strategy, and support of the team in delivering with engineering excellence regarding multi-physics simulation and prototyping.
+ Demonstrate exceptional systems thinking and agility as they together with the team explore, develop, and deliver highly innovative play experiences that leverage robust mechatronics solutions.
+ Lead and review technical design and development activities within this functional domain; collaborate as needed throughout the Hardware Engineering group and within Play Engineering.
+ Serve as an exceptional people leader to those in the Mechatronics Engineering function, providing coaching/mentorship, opportunities for professional growth, and supportive feedback to help the team members continue stretching to reach their fullest potential. The engineers will be located in our offices in Boston, Denmark, and Singapore.

The Senior Manager, Mechatronics Engineering serves as both an individual contributor and people manager within our Hardware Engineering group. This group operates on a global scale within the Play Engineering organization in Product Innovation and Design at the LEGO Group. The role is based in Boston, where LEGO Play Engineering is expanding our global footprint to help advance groundbreaking innovations that will redefine the future of play for the builders of tomorrow.
Do you have what it takes?
+ 10+ years of experience in roles that involved both engineering management and individual contributions in mechatronics, robotics, mechanical systems design, microelectronics, or other similar domains.
+ A builder with passion for creatively using technology as a vehicle to deliver truly awesome play experiences to children around the world.
+ An excitement to help grow and lead this team within Hardware Engineering as we accelerate our expansion into the Boston tech community.
+ Demonstrated success in managing this technology domain as well as individual contributions involving technical leadership in design and development of relevant products from idea stage to mass production in high-volume markets (e.g. consumer electronics, robotics).
+ Experience with key mechatronic component providers and manufacturing partners.
+ Experience with multi physics simulation tools either as a user or as strategy leader
+ Excellent people and technology talents, written and verbal communications skills.
+ Ability to travel as necessary, roughly 20-30 days per year, as part of our global team.
New Location Update - US Only
This position will initially be based at our LEGO office at either Boylston St or St. James St, Back Bay, Boston before moving to a new central Boston office location by the end of 2026. Our hiring teams will discuss this with you during the interview stages.

Compensation
In accordance with the United States Pay Transparency Law, the salary for the US position has a range of$135,000 - $202,000 with bonus eligibility, which isbased on anticipated responsibilities, market benchmarks, and organizational constraints. The LEGO Group carefully considers a wide range of compensation factors, including but not limited to prior experience, skills, expertise, location, internal equity, and other considerations permitted by law. The comprehensive remuneration details, inclusive of benefits, will be communicated upon finalization of the employment offer.
