Senior Manager, Power Solutions & Resources
Job Summary:
The Senior Manager - Power will play a pivotal role in overseeing the technical and strategic aspects of Equinix’s power solutions and resources, focusing on energy systems, utility connections, and market dynamics. This role requires a deep understanding of energy systems and markets, utilities management, and the legal framework governing power procurement. The Senior Manager will lead efforts to secure and manage utility connections, oversee Independent Power Producer (IPP) agreements, evaluate On Site Power Generation, and contribute to the overall development of the company’s power availability strategy throughout AMER.
Key Responsibilities:
- Utility Connection Management: Oversee the management and negotiation of utility connection agreements, ensuring reliable and cost-effective power supply for Equinix’s global operations.
- IPP Agreement Oversight: Manage and oversee agreements with Independent Power Producers (IPPs), ensuring that contracts align with the company’s energy procurement goals and compliance requirements.
- On Site Power Generation & Storage: Evaluate OSPG and storage options for long term power needs, bridging solutions, and or grid services.
- Power Availability Strategy: Assist in the development and execution of strategies to ensure continuous and reliable power availability across all Equinix facilities, considering both current needs and future growth.
- Market Analysis and Strategy: Monitor and analyze energy markets, identifying trends and opportunities that inform the company’s long-term power strategies.
- Technical Leadership: Provide expert guidance on energy systems and utilities management, ensuring that the company’s power infrastructure is robust, scalable, and aligned with industry best practices.
- Project Oversight: Lead strategic projects related to power procurement, including the integration of new energy systems and the development of innovative power solutions.
- Legal and Regulatory Compliance: Collaborate with the legal team to navigate the complexities of utility agreements and IPP contracts, ensuring all contracts are compliant with local regulations and company policies.
- Team Leadership: Oversee and mentor the Power Category Manager and Power Analyst, providing strategic direction and support for their daily procurement and contract management activities.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, legal, and finance, to ensure alignment on power-related initiatives and goals.
- Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks associated with power procurement, utility connections, and IPP agreements, ensuring the company’s energy needs are met without compromising on quality or cost-effectiveness.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in energy systems, utilities connection agreements, relationship management, or a related field, with significant experience in a senior management role.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Energy Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field. Advanced degree or certifications in energy management or project management preferred.
- Technical Expertise: Extensive knowledge of existing and emerging energy systems, utility connections, IPP agreements, and energy markets, with the ability to apply this expertise in a strategic context.
- Project Management: Proven experience leading complex projects related to energy infrastructure and procurement.
- Legal Understanding: Strong understanding of the legal and regulatory aspects of utility agreements, IPP contracts, and energy procurement.
- Market Insight: Deep familiarity with the energy market, including trends, key players, and emerging technologies.
- Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a team, with a focus on strategic thinking and decision-making.
The United States targeted pay range for this position in the following location is / locations are:• San Francisco, CA / Bay Area: $128,000 to $211,000 per year• California (Non-SF/Bay Area), Connecticut, Maryland, New York, New Jersey, Washington state: $119,000 to $196,000 per year• Colorado, Nevada, Rhode Island: $108,000 to $178,000 per yearOur pay ranges reflect the minimum and maximum target for new hire pay for the full-time position determined by role, level, and location. Individual pay is based on additional factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education and/or training.This position may be offered in other locations.
