Job Summary:
This individual will be responsible forStrategic Category Management of packaging consumables, indirect materials. and capital machinery as well as supply strategy and execution according to departmental and organizational policies. Role will lead strategy development for packaging requirements and build sourcing plans to drive quality, innovation, service, and cost containment requirements.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Role will be part of the Procurement leadership team and will share responsibility of Procurement Specialists (or Analysts) to ensure direction, coaching, and prioritization of actions.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Identifyoptimal source of supply for packaging materials and equipment minimizing risk by utilizing suppliers based on best cost, availability, necessity, quality, service, and logistical expenses.
- Manages bids, RFQ's and/or RFP's including specifications, supporting spreadsheets, comparisons, recommendations, and justifications.
- Drafting, interpreting, and revising contracts along with outlining financial risks that follow procurement strategy prior to approval.
- Works with Finance team to provide forecast of inflation/deflation, development of material standards and annual operating plan inputs for packaging and cost reduction goals supported by category strategies.
- Leads supplier management efforts to develop supplier inventory programs, reduced lead times, define secondary sources and ensure packaging is produced to quality specifications
- Attends capital reviews and related project meetings and proactively engages in packaging equipment needs. Close integration with engineering, best value and lead time in equipment acquisition
- Maintains data information files, reports, price lists, and quality nonconformances.
- Manages indirect materials spend and provides year over year cost savings opportunities
- Primary liaison between vendors and departments for supplier approvals, forecasting, supplier quality, plant testing/trials.
- Vetting, establishing, developing, and/or maintaining relationships with suppliers to include monitoring supplier performance as well as conducting business review meetings with supplier(s). Key supplier metrics include: YOY cost savings, On time and fill rate, Quality per spec, Inventory and lead time reduction
- May, from time to time, expedite shipping and deliveries, maintain inventories, and monitor usage as well as usage inconsistencies, and price changes.
- May, from time to time, validate, reconcile and process receiving reports, vendor invoices and other payment documents.
- Professionally and tactfully promotes policies and procedures to intercompany individuals seeking to procure materials, services, and/or supplies.
Required Skills & Abilities: 
- Possess analytical and technical skills to understand business practices and apply them.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills for effective interface with all internal and external contacts.
- Ability to develop strategic plans for main categories and drive implementation to support overall company goals.
- Negotiations - skill at assessing markets, supply options, and leveraging position and competition.
- Proficient in Microsoft office and Excel spreadsheet usage and ERP systems
Ability to perform in a challenging environment
Education & Experience:
- Experience and exposure to supply chain concepts and methodologies in a manufacturing environment, at least 8 to 10 years of Procurement of packaging and/or equipment in manufacturing/CPG environment.
- 4-year degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, or relevant discipline preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Physically able to visit and audit both supplier and CPF production sites
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
