As a Senior Manager of Software Engineering at RXO, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our engineering department. You will lead, mentor, and manage a diverse team of software engineers, ensuring seamless collaboration and high-quality software solutions. Your responsibility includes overseeing onshore and offshore teams and their successful project delivery.
What your day-to-day will look like:
- Provide strong leadership and guidance to software engineering teams, fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and global collaboration.
- Oversee the technical aspects of software development, ensuring best practices, code quality, and system scalability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project requirements, scope, and priorities. Drive the successful delivery of projects within deadlines.
- Mentor and develop team members, helping them grow in their careers and technical skills, and promoting a strong sense of teamwork.
- Participate in the hiring process to build and expand the engineering team, including onshore and offshore resources as needed.
- Contribute to the strategic vision of the technology department and align technical strategies with the organization goals and create quarterly engineering roadmaps.
- Ensure software quality through testing and code reviews, maintaining a high standard of excellence across all teams.
- Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in software engineering, promoting knowledge sharing and best practices among all teams.
- Effectively communicate technical strategies, project updates, and deliverables to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Collaborate across engineering leaders to promote engineering standards and best practices.
What you’ll need to excel:
At a minimum, you’ll need:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent related work or military experience
- 5 years of relevant software development experience at the lead, principle, or architect level
- 2 years of proven experience in software engineering and team management, including onshore and offshore teams.
It’d be great if you also have:
- Master’s degree in computer science or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of software development methodologies, processes, and tools.
- Ability to align technical strategies with business objectives.
- Proven track record of delivering high-quality software solutions using .net and cloud technologies.
- Experience with rapid programming, agile development, software patterning, and refactoring techniques
- Exceptional leadership and communication skills.
