About the Role
The Senior Manufacturing Engineer represents the Advanced Manufacturing Engineering team in developing, implementing, maintaining and improving optimal, cost-effective design and manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards. Effectively works closely with the Design Engineering team members in implementing improvements to production processes, methods, and controls. Leads the development of manufacturing processes for all new projects including facility planning, processing equipment specification development, sourcing, and contracting. The Sr. Manufacturing Engineer also provides support to Controls engineers for new product launches or revised manufacturing lines.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Effectively interface with management, production, quality and materials staff.
- Collaborate with engineering team to conduct cost / benefit analysis and make recommendations on processing equipment/ manufacturing methods.
- Identify needs and business case for various tools, machinery and equipment for improving manufacturing methods. Confer with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of machinery and equipment according to specifications and quality standards.
- Analyze technology, process, methods and current capabilities to assess the feasibility of and plan projects.
- Develop facilities plan including processing equipment, plant lay-out, material flow, and infrastructure needs.
- Work closely with facilities and program management team to develop and evaluate various build-out proposals.
- Coordinate and direct projects, from making detailed plans to working through the equipment commissioning.
- Develop the manufacturing equipment launch schedule for new/revised products including establishing goals, training team members, and evaluating results.
- Confer with management, engineers, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
- Represent manufacturing/engineering on cross-functional teams and with customers
Education/ Skills/ Experience:
- B.S. degree in Mechanical, Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering required.
- Minimum of 10+ years of experience in leading an engineering and cross-functional teams.
- Experience in high volume composite manufacturing planning and execution.
- Experience with automated assembly cells and compression molding.
- Project Management: ability to organize and manage multiple products through manufacturing process.
- Ability to work with vendors, customers and employees.
- Excellent interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to perform problem analysis and problem resolution.
