The Technical Ceramics business of Morgan Advanced Materials engineers high performance functional and structural ceramic materials, components and sub-assemblies to address customer-specific technical challenges.

Responsibilities:
We have an opportunity in our Wood-Ridge, NJ location for an experienced ceramic engineer or material scientist who will help us to develop and deliver material systems and processes to advance our leading position in the ceramic core manufacturing industry.
Major Responsibilities:
As a Senior Material Scientist, you will help to develop, test, and characterize ceramic formulations for injection molding applications. In this role, you will work closely with our PA Material Control Lab on raw material selection, develop new, or improve on existing ceramic core materials, develop processing and design solutions to meet our customer needs, guide junior engineers and technicians, and transfer / scale up new technologies to a production environment.
Essential Functions:
- Support the definition and planning of technology development programs aligned with our Technology Roadmap
- Develop material and process solutions to support manufacturing/customer needs
- Design, organize and carry out material development, production and processing trials at laboratory, pilot and production scales.
- Assess, analyze and interpret development results, adapting and iterating project activities to achieve the desired outcomes within an optimized timescale.
- Understand and apply statistical process control
- Supervise the work of junior engineers and technicians
- Interface with operations, sales and technology teams to ensure seamless execution in meeting goals
- Interact with suppliers and customers when necessary
- Write technical report at the end of each project, with regular updates during development
- Assist in specifying and selecting equipment and material purchases related to ceramics processing
- Support and enhance the company’s commitment to the highest standards of Health and Safety and ensure all policies are adhered to during daily working
- Masters Degree in Ceramics, Material Science or related field with a minimum of 5 years experience. Ph.D. degree preferred
- Experience in the manufacturing of ceramic components
- The ability to work as part of a team and contribute to the progress of the company
- Individual must be a Citizen of the United States or Permanent resident alien of the United States
- Must be authorized to permanently work in the United States
- Knowledge in material testing and micro-structure analysis
- Good working knowledge of statistics
- Excellent report writing and communication skills
- The ability to communicate with customers and all personnel is essential
- Ability to work independently and under pressure with minimal supervision
- Limited travel, including international travel, may be required
- Ability to work in an interdisciplinary, multicultural team
- Experience with Design of Experiments / 6 Sigma training preferred
- An individual that is:
