About the role
We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our Solar Glass Manufacturing facility located in Cedartown, GA. As a senior mechanical project engineer and a member of our glass team, you will play a critical role in leading and executing mechanical projects, including the installation process equipment for a state of the art low iron glass plant and design and upgrade of the plant as required. This role will report directly to the plant's Engineering Manager.
Responsibilities
- Assist with design, development and installation of process equipment for the production of low iron pattern solar glass panels.
- Manage contractors and sub contractors in the installation of process equipment.
- Review designs and installation for meeting the engineering standards for the plant process equipment.
- Learn and understand the operation of all process equipment for potential upgrade and help with the training of employees.
- Generate reports to document the installation process for adherence to the over all schedule for the process.
- Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues during the start up phase of the project.
- Provide technical support and guidance to the operations team and assist with problem-solving activities
- Plan, Design, Justify and Execute Capital projects as assigned.

Mechanical Design and Development:
- Plan, design, and execute mechanical projects related to low iron solar glass production.
- Apply engineering principles to create innovative and efficient mechanical solutions for adverse problems.
Hands-on Execution:
- Actively participate in the fabrication, assembly, and testing of prototypes and equipment.
- Collaborate with the operations team and provide technical expertise throughout the installation and start-up process.
- Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues with production equipment and work with the maintenance department to properly train mechanics and repair equipment during breakdowns.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Prepare technical drawings, specifications, and documentation for mechanical process systems.
- Maintain accurate records of project progress, test results, and design changes.
- Generate technical reports and present findings to the plant management as required.
Collaboration and Support:
- Work closely with the Engineering Manager and other team members to ensure alignment with project goals and objectives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, and technicians, to integrate mechanical components into the glass production lines.
- Provide technical support and guidance to the Maintenance team and assist with problem-solving activities
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. Relevant industry experience will be considered.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in mechanical design and development, preferably within the recycling or sustainability sector.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience in planning, designing, and building prototypes, tools, or equipment.
- Proficiency in CAD software for mechanical design, such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
- Creative thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop innovative solutions for adverse problems.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities, with a proven track record of working effectively in a team environment.
- Detail-oriented with good organizational skills, capable of managing multiple projects and priorities.
- Familiarity with solar panel silicon recycling and CdTe panel recycling processes is a plus.
Note: This position is based in Cedartown, GA, USA. Relocation to the Atlanta area or a willingness to relocate is required. #LI-Onsite
