Talentbridge is partnered with an exceptional organization looking for a leader for their manufacturing and process engineering team. We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to oversee and lead engineering projects related to tool and die experience for extrusion operations. This role is ideal for someone who likes to troubleshoot and provide engineered solutions for improved process flow. Review of new or aging equipment and sourcing solutions will be crucial for improved quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Primary will be responsible for providing support to maintenance and operators.
- This will be a hands-on role with about 70% of the time being spent troubleshooting issues with equipment.
- Work with vendors for new tooling. Identify suppliers and get quotes.
- Candidate will also be responsible for designing components for production equipment using SolidWorks and will collaborate with automation team for more complex equipment designs.
- Strong focus on reducing equipment downtime and improving throughput.
- Training and mentoring operators and maintenance teams on how equipment works and how to run it/repair it.
- Candidate may at times be responsible for bringing in new equipment. This will include specifying equipment, creating CAPEX requests, going out to vendors for quotes, managing installs, training, etc.
- Must have strong manufacturing background and some sort of experience with extrusions and/or tool & die.
- Must have the ability to interface well with production floor personnel.
- Lead and manage mechanical engineering projects from inception to completion.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including design, manufacturing, and quality assurance, to ensure successful project execution.
- Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Design and develop extrusion systems, including dies and tooling, for various applications.
- Optimize extrusion processes to improve efficiency, quality, and performance.
- Oversee the creation and modification of tooling and die components, ensuring they meet design specifications and industry standards
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to extrusion and tooling processes.
- Train operators and Maintenance Technicians on equipment troubleshooting and repair
- Create and modify 3D models and 2D drawings using SolidWorks.
- Conduct detailed design analysis and simulations to ensure product performance and reliability.
- Collaborate with other engineers and designers to integrate SolidWorks models into larger systems or assemblies.Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices in design and manufacturing.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, technologies, and advancements to drive innovation within the team.
Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field;

Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in mechanical engineering, with a focus on extrusion, tool and die design, and SolidWorks.

Skills:
- Proficiency in SolidWorks or similar CAD software.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
