Job Details
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and define end-user and market-driven requirements for communication device designs.
- Develop conceptual designs for mechanical and electromechanical systems, including portable, mobile, and base station equipment, as well as related accessories.
- Partner closely with hardware engineering to provide feedback on design concepts, ensuring they meet both circuit and user requirements.
- Create detailed CAD drawings and comprehensive documentation packages, ensuring design integrity through tolerance analysis and revision control.
- Build and maintain accurate mechanical Bill-of-Materials (BOM) structures for project tracking and production.
- Conduct thorough inspections and root cause analysis of first article mechanical samples, ensuring quality standards and identifying areas for improvement.
- Provide hands-on engineering support to manufacturing teams, troubleshooting assembly issues and developing tooling or fixtures for efficient assembly and testing.
- Drive continuous improvement efforts through collaboration with quality teams to identify and resolve mechanical design or production issues.
What you need for this position:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related field) required.
- At least 5 years of experience in mechanical engineering design, preferably in the development of electro-mechanical systems or related products.
- Strong proficiency in CAD modeling tools, with a focus on parametric design (experience with Pro/Engineer or Wildfire is preferred).
- Solid understanding of mechanical design principles, materials (metals, plastics, rubber, silicone), fabrication processes, tooling, molding, and sheet metal/stamping.
- Ability to independently perform inspections, analyze first article samples, and operate measurement equipment for part calibration.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and make data-driven decisions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a keen attention to detail and organization.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.
- Willingness to travel to partner, supplier, or customer locations as needed.
