Cordoba Corporation is a leading civil engineering firm based in California. We are seeking a full-time Senior Mechanical Engineer to support Cordoba’s Transportation Sector. In this position, you will be responsible for designing and supporting the implementation of mechanical systems and components for public facilities, including transit, aviation, and maintenance facilities. You will be involved with mega design projects, ensuring that designs meet stringent industry standards and regulatory requirements. This role reports to the Project Manager and works collaboratively with other Cordoba team members.
Responsibilities:- Evaluates and reports on existing building and other facility mechanical equipment and systems.
- Designs facility systems including HVAC,MEP, fire suppression, plumbing, building automation, vehicle lifts and servicing, and others.
- Conducts technical analyses, simulations, and testing to validate designs and ensure they meet performance, safety, and reliability standards.
- Ensures all mechanical designs comply with industry and client standards, safety regulations, and company policies.
- Identifies and collaboratively resolves engineering challenges, providing innovative solutions to complex problems.
- Stays informed about relevant codes and standards for transportation sector design and ensures there application in all projects.
- Supports design staff with engineering drawings using CAD software, ensuring accuracy and compliance with project specifications.
- Oversees and manages mechanical engineering tasks from concept through to implementation.
- Coordinates with project managers, client staff, electrical engineers, civil engineers, and other disciplines to ensure cohesive project delivery.
- Implements quality control processes to ensure high standards in mechanical design and manufacturing.
- Works closely with cross-functional teams to integrate mechanical systems with other aspects of the project’s design and construction.
- Mentors and provides guidance to junior engineers, fostering their professional growth and development and provides guidance as they draft mechanical and other designs.
- Collaborates effectively and oordinates with team members and other design disciplines to ensure cohesive and integrated project outcomes.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or a related field.
- California Professional Engineering (PE) License, or ability to obtain within one year of hire.
- Extensive experience in mechanical engineering of public works maintenance facilities and shops, preferably in the rail or transportation industry
- Proficiency in CAD software, such as AutoCAD or similar
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities
- In-depth knowledge of transportation industry standards and regulatory requirements
- Proven track record of successfully collaborating, leading and delivering complex engineering projects
- Project management experience is a plus
- Positive attitude and ability to work cooperatively with others as well as independently
- Willingness to continue to learn and grow technically and professionally within the company
- Open to utilizing and developing new technologies and approaches for performing work
Preferred:
- Rail experience in this area is preferred but not required.
Salary Range: $200,000 - $230,000 per year
Work Environment: Hybrid (Remote with travel considered depending on qualifications and experience)
