Shriners Children's is the premier pediatric burn, orthopaedic, spinal cord injury, cleft lip and palate, and pediatric subspecialties medical center. We have an opportunity for a Sr. Medical Technologist to join our Galveston, Texas team.
Job Overview:The Senior Medical Technologist leads the way for the clinical lab team. In this position, you will be responsible for assisting the Clinical Laboratory Manager with Core Lab and Blood Bank daily activities, providing technical leadership for clinical staff, supporting diagnostic activities, and ensuring patient satisfaction, quality care and regulatory/accreditation standards are achieved.
Responsibilities:- Performs pre-analytic and post-analytic procedures, exercising independent judgement and responsibility
- Provides oversight of technical laboratory operations
- Serves as the laboratory subject mattr expert for IT related training, problem solving and validation
- Develops staff and assesses performance
Hours of this position are Monday - Friday, 2 p.m. - 10:30 p.m., with minimal weekends (for coverage purposes) and rotating holidays.
Compensation is based upon years of relevant explerience and department equity, but ranges from $32.46 - $48.67 per hour.
Qualifications:Required Education
- Bachelor of Medical Technology, CLS or Science required
Required Experience
- 5 years Clinical Laboratory required AND
- 2 years Management/Supervisory required
- Blood Bank experience preferred
Required Certifications/Licensures
- MLT (ASCP), MT or Equivalent certification required
- Med. Tech license in state of Texas required
