We are in search of a motivated, experienced, and innovative Mid-Level to Senior Microfabrication Engineer to join the Advanced Materials Group in Huntsville - AL. As a core member of the team, you will play a valuable part in supporting and executing a wide range of projects and programs. A successful candidate will manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while collaborating within the team. This role will be an in person position. Our ideal candidate will have +10 years of experience in microfabrication processes, clean room operations, device design/fabrication of MEMs, and business development. As a Mid-Level to Senior Engineer you will help lead process development, grow the business area, and collaborate with cross functional teams.
Primary Responsibilities
The mid-level to senior microfabrication engineer will perform microfabrication processes and provide technical leadership to staff. The candidate will work to develop processes and products using innovative solutions in an R&D and pilot production/ low-rate initial production (LRIP) environment. Candidate will apply appropriate quality controls to processes and products based on the maturity level of the project. Additionally, the selected candidate will engage with potential clients to build partnerships and work with industry collaborators to advance our microfabrication business scope.
Basic Qualifications
- Candidate will have a BS in Engineering, Physics, Materials Science (or similar science/technical discipline) from and accredited university
- Candidate will have 10 or more years of relevant experience (experience requirement dependent on education level)
- Experience leading and preforming microfabrication processes including photolithography, etching, and deposition, and advanced packaging, etc.
- Experience troubleshooting fabrication challenges and providing innovative solutions to improve products
- Ability to work in a fast-paced R&D environment
- Have experience and / or understanding of requirements for Pilot Production to LRIP (Low Rate Initial Production)
- Understanding of quality and data management for microfabricated devices and packaging
- Experience with metrology and characterization techniques such as SEM, EDS, ellipsometry, profilometry, FTIR and more
- Ability/experience mentoring junior engineers and technicians
- Ability to operate cleanroom equipment including PVD, DRIE, sputtering, and other relevant tools
- Flexibility and willingness to potentially work on other programs outside of microfabrication
- Candidate must reside in Huntsville Alabama or be willing to relocate to the area
- Candidate must be a US Citizen and possess (and be able to maintain) a Secret Clearance or meet the eligibility requirements to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance
Preferred Qualifications
- Active Secret or Top-Secret clearance
- 8 years of experience and a MS in Engineering, Physics, Materials Science (or similar science/technical discipline) from and accredited university
- Experience with design and layout tools
- Willing to support BD proposals and other business growth opportunities
- Experience with business development through the identification of market opportunities to drive business growth
- A record of interfacing with customers to meet project milestones and objectives
- Experience in statistical process control and DOE methodologies
- Experience using data analysis and DOE software packages including (but not limited to): Python, PowerBI, DOEPro and/or JMP
- Experience with Multiphysics simulation software such as COMSOL

Pay Range:
Pay Range $101,400.00 - $183,300.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
