Summary of Job Responsibilities:
The Mortgage Processor plays a crucial role in facilitating the smooth and efficient processing of mortgage and closed end home equity applications. Responsible for reviewing and verifying loan documents to assure compliance with underwriting and regulatory requirements and collaborating with various stakeholders to expedite the mortgage approval and closing processes. Accountable for the accuracy and completeness of all loan documentation up to and including closing, and for compliance with all Bank Secrecy Act, Anti Money Laundering regulations, mortgage regulations, bank policies and procedures.
Essential Job Duties:
- Review and analyze mortgage applications to ensure completeness and accuracy of information.
- Verify applicant information, including income, employment history, credit reports, and appraisals.
- Coordinate with loan officers, underwriters, and applicants to gather any additional documentation or clarification needed.
- Evaluate applicant's financial status and creditworthiness to determine eligibility for mortgage loans.
- Ensure all documentation meets regulatory and company guidelines, including but not limited to Truth in Lending (TILA) and Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA) requirements.
- Communicate effectively with applicants, real estate agents, and other relevant parties to provide updates on the status of mortgage applications.
- Prepare loan files for underwriting review, including organizing and packaging all required documents.
- Collaborate with underwriters to address any outstanding conditions or documentation needed for loan approval.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all mortgage applications and related correspondence.
- Prepare closing disclosures and other required documents in accordance with TRID regulations.
- Coordinate with title companies, attorneys, and other parties to schedule and facilitate loan closings.
- Conduct final reviews of closing documents to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Prepare funding packages and submit loans for funding in a timely manner.
- Assist in resolving any issues or discrepancies that may arise during the mortgage processing and approval process.
Skills and Abilities Required:
- High degree of computer/technology literacy and the ability to master new technology/software
- Strong mastery of the English language and communication skills in both written and verbal form, the ability to communicate expectations to clients while positively representing the Bank during all interactions. .
- Mental/visual skills necessary to effectively and efficiently utilize technology and input data into systems.
- Exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task while working with multiple loan files and contacts simultaneously
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of customer information, employee information and any Citizens Bank business practices, processes and procedures.
Minimum Requirements:
- Five years' experience in mortgage processing and closing with a strong understanding of mortgage lending practices and regulations.
- Knowledge of relevant regulations and guidelines, including FHA, VA and conventional loan requirements.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Experience with Microsoft Office and loan origination software (LOS) required. Experience with Encompass LOS preferred.
- Associate degree in finance or business administration preferred.
- Supervisory experience of mortgage operations is preferred.
