Title: Senior Network Associate
Client: EMC Supporting a Financial Client of theirs
Location: Westport, CT
Start Date: ASAP
Length -- through the end of the year
Position Summary:
We are seeking a senior network associate who will be responsible for supporting,
maintaining, and evolving the network infrastructure. This position presents an opportunity
to be responsible for external data communications, security infrastructure, network and
wireless infrastructure, and network analysis tools.
Responsibilities would include:
Provide high quality network infrastructure and security services
Operate and improve services in accordance with business needs, priorities and SLAs
Develop network standards based on industry best practice
Network infrastructure configuration, deployment, support and management
Diagnose, resolve and communicate problems
Resolution of Tier 3 incidents as a hands-on expert
Increase resource effectiveness
Improve operational efficiency
Develop, improve, and adhere to processes, policies and procedures
Deliver and report on capacity/performance/SLA metrics
Mitigate risks to the service and ensure service availability
Assess, communicate and prioritize operational risks to network services
Design and execute plans to remediate risks
Position Requirements:
Eight or more years of IT infrastructure experience
Deep and rich understanding of network theory at both the micro and macro level
protocols, applications, topologies
Strong networking background with good breadth of knowledge across other IT domains
(security, platform, storage)
Rich problem-solving capabilities; troubleshooting and performance-tuning
Broad experience with Cisco network technologies
Understands and is capable of applying network design and configuration best practices
Deep understanding of routing protocols (EIGRP, OSPF, BGP) and common topologies
Experience managing security devices including firewalls, TACACS/Radius, and VPN
Experience managing Optical infrastructure DWDM.
Automation focus: experience with Python preferred
CS and EE backgrounds (from strong research-oriented EE/CS programs) preferred, but
open to any scientific or engineering background
Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills
Able to quickly synthesize information and take appropriate actions
Accountable for results and holds others accountable
Goal oriented and able to see the big picture
Perceptive about things happening around them, what it means and what do about them
Understands when to escalate issues
Preferred candidates would also meet the following criteria:
Cisco certification is a plus (CCNA, CCNP, CCIE)
F5 BigIP, DNS, Firewalls including Cisco ASA and Juniper SRX, DWDM experience
IDS experience (Sourcefire)
Financial industry experience
