About the Job
Candidate will join a team that is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the Land O'Lakes corporate network. This includes assessing, designing, implementing and ongoing optimization of core network services within the data centers as well as optimizing LAN, WAN and MAN solutions and circuits. Candidate will work with teammates, business users, project teams and security team to deliver on business and security objectives. Candidate will work with vendors to assess commercial solutions and/or develop tools/integrations that optimize our ability to monitor and manage the network.
Candidate must be able to add value to an environment using the following technologies: Cisco ACI, Checkpoint Firewalls, F5 Load Balancing, CSC UltraDNS and Infoblox DNS, Aruba Wireless, Cisco ASA/Firepower, Cisco/Viptela Routers, ExtraHop NPM/NDR, Microsoft Azure administration.
Ideal candidate will have OT experience/interest as we expand network support responsibilities to include manufacturing systems. This includes site visits to assess current network topographies, recommendations for implementing centrally supportable equipment, tying in network monitoring and alerting tools and addressing any needs of our manufacturing teams.
Candidate will be an escalation point for Level 2 support teams to respond to network outages and issues. Candidate will be expected to participate in limited, but critical, on-call responsibilities. Candidate may need to work outside of normal business hours to implement project objectives at times that minimize business impact.
Projects - candidate has wide decision-making authority within existing guidelines. Collaboration expected.
- Understand project objectives and implications to existing Network and Security systems.
- Develop and communicate a plan to effect change to process and technology to meet project objectives.
- Where needed, determine when new technologies need to be introduced to meet project objectives. Leads efforts to evaluate and integrate new technologies.
- Develops plans that minimizes downtime impact to the business.
System Engineering & System Operations - candidate has wide decision-making authority within existing guidelines. Collaboration expected.
- Participates in efforts to develop operational and security improvement and identifies existing gaps. Leads efforts to address gaps with process and technology.
- Consults with IT and business leadership to align on operational objectives and minimize business operational impacts.
- Manages vendors to understand future capabilities and influences product development teams to develop new capabilities to meet corporate objectives.
- Is a process champion for standardized requests and able to develop alignment on new processes, where needed.
Issue escalation - Candidate is generally leading self/others to resolution to minimize business impact.
- Can identify tasks that can be handed off to support teams/others and does so effectively.
- Can balance speed and process when addressing escalated issues.
- Leverages vendors to meet operational objectives.
Required Experience and Education:
- Bachelor's degree and CCNP or equivalent applicable work experience. 5+ years of network engineering experience.
- Required competencies:
- Candidate must be able to install network equipment into racks and facilitate getting equipment powered and configured for secure, remote management.
- Candidate must be able to travel nationwide infrequently (4-5 times/year) and locally to data centers.
