The Senior Network Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing complex network infrastructures. The ideal candidate must possess a strong understanding of advanced network routing protocols, including EIGRP, BGP, and OSPF, as well as expertise in cloud networking and SD-WAN technologies
Responsibilities
- Network Design and Implementation: Design, configure, and deploy enterprise-level networks, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and security.
- Routing Protocols: Manage and troubleshoot network routing protocols (EIGRP, BGP, OSPF) to ensure efficient data flow and connectivity.
- Cloud Networking: Develop and maintain cloud network architectures, integrating on-premises infrastructure with public cloud services (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- SD-WAN Management: Implement and manage SD-WAN solutions to enhance network efficiency and flexibility.
- Network Security: Collaborate with the security team to implement robust network security measures and protocols in accordance with applicable Defense System Agency (DISA) Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and DoD guidance.
- Performance Monitoring: Utilize advanced tools to monitor network performance, identify bottlenecks, and optimize network traffic. (SolarWinds, Cisco DNA Center, SD-Wan controllers)
- Documentation: Maintain comprehensive network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and policies.
- Technical Support: Provide advanced technical support and troubleshooting for complex network issues.
- Mentorship: Mentor junior network engineers, providing guidance and knowledge sharing to enhance team capabilities.
- Vendor Management: Liaise with network hardware and software vendors to evaluate and procure new technologies.
- Travel may be required for special projects. (CONUS, OCONUS)
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. Can be substituted for Associate's Degree in related field with 5+ years of relevant experience or Advanced certifications (CCNP, CCIE or equivalent) are highly desirable.
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in network engineering, with a focus on enterprise-level network design and management.
- Technical Skills: Extensive knowledge of routing protocols: EIGRP, BGP, OSPF.
- Proficiency in cloud networking (AWS, Azure).
- Experience with SD-WAN technologies and solutions is a plus.
- Strong understanding of network security principles and best practices.
- Knowledge of HAIPE technologies (TACLANES) and how to identify and troubleshoot associated issues is a plus.
- Hands-on experience with network monitoring and performance tools. (SolarWinds, Cisco DNA Center, SD-Wan controllers)
- Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving abilities, strong communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Certifications: Relevant network certifications such as CCNP, CCDP, CCIE, AWS Certified Advanced Networking, or equivalent are preferred.
