Overview
This critical leadership position has full accountability for the culture and operational performance of Assembly Operations at Bruno. This Leader will mentor and guide the Assembly team, leveraging Lean and operations principals to ensure Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost targets are achieved for the department. Additionally, this high impact person will lead vision and strategy development for the entire plant, including partnering with the Engineering teams on Design for Manufacturing (DFM) for new products and establishing clear roadmap for automation growth and other key process technology implementation to grow both capacity and improve productivity.
Responsibilities
- Promote and foster a safe working environment, ensuring a safety-first culture is sustained across all functions of the plant.
- Provide effective leadership coaching to Production Team Leaders and Team Captains to grow their leadership and supervisory capabilities.
- Coach team on appropriate Lean tools to drive continuous improvement and problem solving in the areas of Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost.
- Ensure team has visibility to key performance indicators for daily management and abnormalities are escalated and addressed in a timely fashion.
- Provide oversight and guidance for future roadmap of process technology and automation.
- Lead and facilitate early engagement with engineering on new product/process development activities, ensuring operations feedback is provided prior to design release.
- Utilize data driven processes and metrics to achieve key performance objectives.
- Manage departmental staffing, performance, labor, and overtime metrics.
- Support the Team Leaders in the facilitation of monthly team meetings in support of strong communication, collaboration, process improvements, goal attainment.
- Partner with Human Resources on employee relations issues, policy administration, hiring, onboarding, and retention.
- Lead and coach both direct and indirect teams to ensure key project management activities deliver benefits to the operation.
- Develop and maintain the annual departmental budget, including plan and oversight of capital equipment deployment.
- Incorporate shop floor organization and plant cleanliness among plant personnel. (5S)
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field and minimum of 10 years direct supervision and cross functional leadership experience.
- Extensive knowledge both as a lean practitioner and in deploying lean tools/culture in a value stream or operation.
- Experience with managing low volume high mix products, promoting process improvements, and the ability to adapt to changing situations while managing multiple priorities.
- Experience with six sigma and kanban inventory systems is preferred.
This strong leader must be able to collaborate with other leaders within the company to drive process improvements and organizational growth. This individual will have proven expertise in resource planning and successfully identifying and implementing process improvement initiatives that have a direct positive impact on the P&L. Additionally, this position requires an individual that demonstrates a leadership style that is confident and motivating, yet flexible and collaborative, possessing the ability to prioritize and communicate effectively with well-reasoned, and creative thought.
Skills and Abilities:
- Read, analyze, and interpret reports and legal documents.
- Write articles at publication level that conform to prescribed style and format.
- Effectively present information to employees, management, customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
- Requires job related software skills, MS Office and the ability to operate a variety of standard office equipment.

- Environment is a modern production facility with heat and air conditioning with office on shop floor
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is generally required to ambulate and use hands and fingers
