The Senior Pediatric Occupational Therapist performs as senior staff clinician in his/her cost center(s) by utilizing the skills of an experienced occupational therapist.
Responsibilities:A day in the life of a Senior Pediatric Occupational Therapist at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:
- Performs all functions associated with the evaluation of patients for all age groups within the department's responsibility.
- Performs all functions associated with the execution of therapeutic treatment for all age groups within the department's responsibility.
- Completes all documentation required within the regarded timeline according to department.
- Serves as clinical resources in case management to all non-senior occupational therapists on staff.
- Assists department management in the development, coordination and implementation of new programs that will enhance the department's scope of services to serve the needs of the community.
- Provides department management feedback regarding procedural, programmatic and staff concerns.
- Identifies the needs of the patient population served and modifies and delivers care that is specific to those needs (i.e., age, culture, language, hearing and/or visually impaired, etc.). This process includes communicating with the patient, parent, and/or primary caregiver(s) at their level (developmental/age, educational, literacy, etc.).
- Adheres to the standards identified in the Medical Center's Organizational Competencies.
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- Graduation from an accredited occupational therapy school.
- 2 years previous experience.
Licenses and Certifications Required:
- Occupational Therapist License.:
Working Conditions:
- Lifts a minimum of 50 lbs., pushes and pulls a minimum of 100 lbs and stands a minimum of 6 hours a day.
