Job Description
M&J is currently seeking a Senior Planner assigned to our Arlington, VA office, who will be working onsite at our project in Washington, DC. For this position, the successful candidate will work on our client site for up to five years with the potential for follow-on work in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area. The successful candidate will manage the assigned elements of a rail infrastructure project.
Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, scheduling, and coordination of construction activities for large-scale rail infrastructure projects, ensuring the effective integration of IT systems.
- Develop comprehensive construction plans and schedules, utilizing advanced planning software and tools to optimize project timelines and resources.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, IT specialists, and other stakeholders to identify project requirements and develop detailed planning strategies.
- Oversee the implementation of IT systems within construction projects, ensuring seamless integration with existing infrastructure and compliance with project goals.
- Conduct regular site visits and inspections to monitor project progress, identify potential issues, and ensure adherence to project schedules and plans.
- Prepare and present detailed progress reports, schedules, and technical documentation to stakeholders and senior management.
- Manage construction budgets, timelines, and resources, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- Identify risks and develop mitigation strategies to address potential challenges related to construction planning and IT integration.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends, recommending innovative solutions to enhance project efficiency and effectiveness.
- Provide training and support to project teams and end-users, ensuring optimal utilization of IT systems in construction planning.
Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in construction planning, with a significant portion spent on large rail infrastructure projects and IT systems integration.
- In-depth knowledge of construction planning software, IT systems, networks, and relevant technologies for rail infrastructure.
- Proven track record of successfully managing and delivering complex construction projects with integrated IT systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve planning and technical issues efficiently.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Experience with industry-specific software and technologies, such as Primavera P6, AutoCAD, BIM, SCADA systems, and ERP solutions.
- Familiarity with regulatory standards and compliance requirements related to construction and IT systems in rail infrastructure.
- Professional certifications such as PMP, PSP, ITIL, or relevant industry-specific certifications are highly desirable..
