Your role in the mission:
Type One Energy are seeking a Senior Power Plant Design Engineer responsible for leading the design and development of our stellarator fusion pilot plant from concept through completion. This plant will demonstrate production of electrical power in the 100 MW range with a closed fuel cycle.
This role involves managing design teams, coordinating with external stakeholders, and ensuring that all projects meet the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and environmental compliance. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in power plant design, a strong understanding of engineering principles, and the ability to manage complex projects.
- Lead the design and engineering of power plant systems, including mechanical, electrical, and civil components.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources, ensuring that all projects are completed on schedule and within budget.
- Provide technical guidance and support to engineering teams, ensuring that all designs meet regulatory and industry standard.
- Work closely with other departments, including construction, operations, and environmental teams, to ensure integrated project delivery.
- Oversee and prepare detailed engineering reports, design specifications, and project documentation.
- Ensure all designs comply with relevant environmental, health, and safety regulations.
What you’ll need:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering (or related field). A Master’s degree is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in power plant design and engineering.
- Certifications: Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
- Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and other engineering tools. Strong understanding of power plant systems and components.
- Proven experience in managing large-scale engineering projects in an EPC environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to present complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities and experience managing engineering teams.
