About the Job
The Senior Powertrain Engineer will lead or coordinate electric beam axle development for North American customers. The position will coordinate internal e-motor/inverter/gearbox subsystem teams within JJE. This Senior Powertrain Engineer also performs as key interface with OEM customers, providing high-quality, responsive technical service and build strong relationships with customers.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead or coordinate electric beam axle design process and development for North American customers
- Support design, development and validation of powertrain product include e-axle adhering to engineering disciplines with minimal supervision.
- Coordinate sub-system development? e-motor, inverter, gearbox, etc.
- Interface with OEM customer over application engineering. Lead root cause analysis and teardown assessment of product issues
- Lead or conduct hands-on application work. Responsible for field support
- Support manufacturing and supply chain development. Engineering interface with certain suppliers
- Lead customer technical meetings and presentations, lead internal design reviews to meet program milestones.
- Lead and coordinate DFMEA/PFEMA activities for the responsible products and manufacturing plants/suppliers
- Build strong customer relationship. Provide timely, responsive technical support to customers
- Support quote process for design changes
- Other duties given by management
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, graduate degree preferred
- Minimum of 5 years automotive engineering experience
- Strong experience in conventional Beam Axle and development. Electric Beam axle experience preferred
- Experience with North American sub-component supply chain
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes (i.e. casting, forging, machining and assembly)
- Hands on skills of beam axle teardown, assembly, and vehicle application
- Ability to prioritize and work multiple tasks to completion.
- Ability to collaborate and work in a team environment
Specific Knowledge & Skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills to ensure clear and effective communication with customers and within company
- Proficient with application of FMEA, DVPR and quality
- Experience with e-motor/inverter/gearbox is desirable. Experience with CAD/CAE is desirable.
