POSITION SUMMARY AND PURPOSE
Q2 Impact is recruiting an experienced Senior Practice Area Advisor, Governance and Economic Development to increase the company’s visibility with core clients and support efforts to expand portfolio in these areas. The Senior Practice Area Advisor will bring expertise in one or more technical focus areas including in governance, civil society strengthening and civic engagement, economic empowerment and inclusion, and access to finance. The successful candidate will lead an outward facing role, contributing to thought leadership and positioning the company with relevant USAID Missions to increase our business in these areas. They will also contribute regularly to business development (BD) in coordination with the Practice Area Leads, Technical Directors, and Technical Managers.
In BD, the Senior Advisor will be responsible for the full lifecycle of business development from driving opportunities to capture, to being technical lead and writing proposals and will work collaboratively with our BD Team. The successful candidate will demonstrate considerable entrepreneurship and leadership in the company and industry. The Senior Advisor will also provide technical leadership on all practices in the areas listed above, and contribute to program implementation, program design, and delivery enhancement as needed.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Strategic Planning and Market Analysis
- Serves as the in-house subject matter expert (SME) and represents the company by leading technical expertise with clients.
- Conduct in-depth market research and analysis, monitoring Foreign Assistance trends, opportunities, and challenges.
- Monitor competitive activity and adjust strategies to maintain a competitive edge in the federal market.
- Business Development and Capture Management:
- Develop Practice Area strategies that focus on growth and prepare Q2 Impact for new opportunities.
- Lead the identification and pursuit of new business opportunities within the federal government and especially USAID.
- Drive the development of technical proposals and serve in a leadership capacity, as the technical lead and/or lead writer.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including federal agency decision-makers, industry partners, and technology providers.
- Drive field-based business development activities and coordinate directly with the field teams to build relationships with points of contact within the government.
- Thought Leadership and Advocacy:
- Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and meetings to promote our capabilities and establish the company as a thought leader in the Foreign Assistance space.
- Author white papers, case studies, and other thought leadership materials to showcase the company’s expertise and insights.
- Builds, maintains, and leverages relationships globally with strategic partners including donor agencies, academic institutions and think tanks.
MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous experience serving in a Senior Advisor capacity and/or other leadership role including Chief of Party (COP) or other role.
- Demonstrated track record of leading technical work with USAID. Experience working with additional agencies and donors such as the Department of State, Millenium Challenge Corporation, and other Foreign Assistance clients is preferred but not required.
- A minimum of 15 years of experience in the federal contracting space, with a focus on business development and demonstrated progressive management work supporting donor-funded programming.
- Experience providing support to the design and implementation of cutting-edge approaches in governance and economic development.
- Proven track record of success in identifying, capturing, and winning USAID-funded projects valued at $20M and above.
- Extensive knowledge of federal procurement processes, contracting vehicles, and compliance requirements with a focus on foreign assistance and international affairs.
- Ability to work with diverse teams of Practice Area Leads, Market Leads, and Business Development team.
- Strong writing and speaking communication skills in English required. Skills in a relevant language such as French, Spanish, or Arabic highly desired.
- Technical Skills:
- Significant experience designing and implementing donor-funded programs in the governance and economic development sectors.
- Understanding of and practical experience leveraging collaboration, learning, and adaptation principles.
- Demonstrated commitment to inclusive development principles; experience mainstreaming gender and youth in development programming required.
- Leadership and Communication:
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence and drive strategic initiatives across the organization.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with clients, industry partners, and internal stakeholders.
- Education:
- Master’s degree or higher in a related field such as international development, economic development, peacebuilding preferred. Work experience in lieu of an advanced degree will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

COMPENSATION
- $180,000-210,000
