About the Job
The candidate will be responsible (but not limited) for the following:
- Provide Materials and Process support for the development of new products from the New Product Introduction (NPI) phase to production release.
- Conduct process qualification studies to verify that the selected materials/processes meet the customer end product requirements.
- Generate process documentation and transfer new processes to our high-volume manufacturing sites in Asia.
- Provide initial key feedback to the design teams on the manufacturability (DFM)of the new product.
- Evaluate and establish process capabilities and take ownership for assembly yield during the development phase.
- Provide the required process and equipment training for onsite technicians and offshore personnel as products are transferred to production.
Education & Experience
- Minimum 5 yr. experience
- BS/MS Engineering or equivalent degree.
Skills
The ideal candidate shall have the following abilities:
- Knowledge of opto-electronics packaging design and related materials and processes.
- Hands-on experience with various assembly equipment and processes, such as epoxy/eutectic attach, wire bonding, optical alignment, flip chip, and mechanical assembly.
- Knowledgeable in the use of UV epoxies specifically for optical alignment processes.
- Strong interpersonal, teaming, and problem-solving skills.
- Work effectively with other members of Coherent Corp.
- Able to work independently as an individual contributor and also in a team setting.
