Sr. Production Team Lead
Shift: 7AM-3:30PM
Position Summary:
The Sr. Production Lead is responsible for the direct oversight of Team Leads and Production Operators. The Sr. Lead will maintain accountability of all operators and drive metrics on safety, quality, delivery, cost, productivity, and continuous improvements. This role is also responsible for achieving production schedules in support of customer needs.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Job Assignment Using CTB and/or Production Plan
- Uses CTB or production plan (depending on the line) to assign jobs to qualified operator/s and maintains commitments in CTB
- Reviews dispatch throughout workday, assigns jobs based on level of priority
- Schedules overtime based on capacity demands
- Reviews and records scrap rate daily, with RCCA for each event
- Safety:
- Drive Safety Awareness and Improvements
- Ensures all work is performed using proper PPE
- Conducts scheduled Stretch Exercises
- Reports any possible hazards
- Operator Efficiency:
- Reviews methods/procedures and recommends improvements to drive lean initiatives
- Monitors time taken on jobs assigned to operators
- Guides operators to assure jobs are completed within allotted labor standards
- Labor Utilization:
- With oversight of manager, assures that all allocated labor hours are properly utilized for maximum efficiency
- Ensures jobs are running as scheduled in work cell
- Identifies bottlenecks and constraints within the cell
- Ensures proper scheduling of resources based on capacity demands
- Operator Training:
- Facilitates operator training in conjunction with Manufacturing Engineer, Design Engineer, and/or Manager
- Trains and develops associates in skills, processes, and procedures required to effectively perform their jobs
- Maintains authorized trainer list and cross-training matrix
- Submits information on completed training actions
- Procedural Compliance:
- Assures operators are following all documented work instructions and procedures
- Maintains process standardization
- Each area responsible for their Calibration
- Daily Build Plan Review:
- Participates in review of daily build plan with lead employees, coordinates handoff of high priority jobs for timely completion
- Reports and records issues related to Production, Quality, and On Time Delivery
- Ensures proper product delivery including escalation and resolution of high exposure items
- Shop Floor Management:
- Continuously improves processes, procedures, and eliminates waste
- Checks Client status and makes any labor adjustments
- Ensures Tier 1 start of shift meeting with team is held daily
- Checks the floor for any issues with Client, Material, Machine, Methods
- Leads Tier 2 Reviews with support team using standardized instructions
- Monitors production status every two hours at minimum
- Completes production floor check sheets
- Records issues with production
- Notes/Acts on flow interrupters
- Adds issues to Daily management boards
- Participates in daily meetings
- Defines and monitors Standard work/routings/Standard operating procedures for compliance
- Reinforces and corrects performance as needed
- Conducts end of shift handover
- Assists in set-ups and changeovers when necessary
- Ensures parts and materials are supplied to operators
- Issues Work orders for quick maintenance (maximo)
- Conducts 5S and Safety audits at end of shift
- Collects data and completes required reports
- Conducts Gemba walk weekly with manager
- Drives quantifiable improvements for safety, quality, delivery, inventory, and productivity
- Leads monthly cost center meetings
- Monitors and approves team time in ADP
- Manages supplies, including chemicals and gases, tooling, fixturing, stycast molds, etc.
- Leads root causing activities and countermeasures for safety, quality, delivery, inventory, and productivity defects including but not limited to the use of the following approaches:
- 5 Whys
- Fishbone
- 8 Step problem solving
- Assists with resolving any issues/problems
- Maintains a culture of accountability
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Job Requirements:
A successful candidate must have/be:
- HS Diploma or equivalent, or combination of education and experience
- Minimum 4 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
- Ability to prioritize, organize, problem solve, and meet deadlines and goals
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Tools and knowledge of MRP systems a plus
- Ability to work well under pressure and handle a variety of tasks simultaneously
- Effective communicator, both written and verbal
- Ability to effectively escalate production/employee issues to get them resolved in a timely fashion
- Organized and detail oriented
- Demonstrates a high level of dependability and reliability, exhibited by being punctual and fulfilling all commitments
Required Skills: Microsoft office suite with emphases in Excel
