The City of Torrance is recruiting for Senior Program Specialists to be part of the Community Services Team!

The Department
The mission of the Community Services Department is to enrich the community through the provision of recreational, cultural, and educational opportunities for persons of all abilities. The Community Services Department takes pride in “Enriching the Community through People, Programs, and Partnerships”. The Department is a diverse organization which consists of five Divisions that work collaboratively to meet the vision, mission, and goals of the department: Administrative Services, Cultural Services, Library Services, Parks Services, and Recreation Services.
The Position
The Senior Program Specialist plans, organizes, and direct major Theatre Company and Cultural Services City events. This position generally supervises multiple sites or a complex site operation and does related work as required. This is a recurrent, part-time, non-civil service, as needed position. This position is eligible for PERS and may be eligible for prorated benefits.
Under direction from the Stage Manager, the Senior Program Specialist plans, organizes, and performs technical support activities and events such as Torrance Summer Nights & Cherry Blossom Festival for the Cultural Arts Center. Senior Program Specialist assists in the safe operation and maintenance of theater sound, lighting, rigging, and related equipment and systems used in support of stage productions and related events; and performs related duties as required.
The Senior Program Specialist also ensures the safe technical operations of the Cultural Arts Center; operates and maintain equipment, materials, tools and supplies used in technical production and set design; evaluates equipment needs and notifies supervisor of need to repair or replace equipment; and troubleshoots theater equipment.
