WSP is currently initiating a search for a Senior Project Manager Structural Engineer for our Boston, MA office. This position will primarily lead bridge and other structural projects for MassDOT and MTBA including design, rehabilitation, repair, and retrofit. Join our Structures Transportation Team to share your expertise and collaborate with a strong network of professionals to take on challenging, meaningful projects that helps shape our communities and the future.
Your Impact
- Lead Bridge and Structure Design, Rehabilitation / Repair / Retrofit of Bridges and other structures.
- CAD experience with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
- Structural Analysis using commercial software programs.
- Evaluation of Existing Structures including Load Ratings (AASHTOWare BrR).
- Assistance in the preparation of Quantity Estimates, Specifications, Review of Shop Drawings.
- Preparation of Reports and Participation in Field Work.
- Work with cross-functional teams in executing project work.
- Mentor staff to support their growth and professional development.
- Manage and provide performance guidance and leadership to assigned staff.
- Remain current in latest structural engineering techniques and practices.
- Collaborate with professionals from a variety of disciplines to provide “trusted advisor” service and future ready solutions for clients.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering, or closely related discipline.
- 10+ years of relevant post education experience.
- PE Certification
- Prior experience leading projects for MassDOT or MBTA
- Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Strong technical writing, analytical and communication skills
- Experience with discipline-specific design software like AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
- Detail-oriented with an emphasis on quality work products
- Experienced with providing critical review for documents and preparing technical deliverables and plans with a high degree of complexity.
- Well-developed critical thinking and problem-solving skills required to apply technical knowledge to reach conclusions from testing results, data collation, computations, statistical analysis and arriving at the most effective, economical, and logical solution.
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
- Must be flexible to a variety of schedules to meet business needs and able to prioritize responsibilities and quickly adapt to change in a pressure work environment.
- Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- SE Certification.
- Movable bridge design experience
- Master's graduate program is a plus.
- Focus on structural analysis/design courses preferred.
- Working knowledge of CTDOT, MassDOT, MBTA, RIDOT, NHDOT, MaineDOT and/or VTrans requirements and standards.
- Familiarity with commercial drafting and analysis programs preferred.
